I asked my lawyer and she said wait for the NVC to send a package or a notification before you send them anything.

I know I know, usually when anyone starts their sentence with "I asked my lawyer..." people start laughing here!

I told her the link to instructions is right there on the web page where it shows the status as "Paid" for both the fees.

She said "Does it say mail the documents?"

I called NVC and the automated response says "A package has been prepared on April 5 and we will send it out in the next few weeks. Follow instructions in it. If you don't get it in 6 weeks, let us know."

It will take me a few days to collect the documents anyway.

Once I have them ready, and if by then the lawyer has not received that package, I'll call NVC and ask them what to do.

What's so special about this package anyway? It probably has the same instructions as are given on the web page links.

Unless things have changed dramatically since last year, , there is nothing special about the package from NVC. Everything you need can be obtained online. Of course if you want, you can wait as your lawyer suggests, depends on how long you would like the process to take. :)

In fact we were completed at NVC and had our interview date before we even received our hard copy of the forms from NVC!

The same with us. You can wait if you want to but one of the reasons we got rid of our lawyer is because she said NO ONE gets through NVC in less than 60 days. If you use LingChe's short cuts, then you'll get through much quicker than waiting for your lawyer to get the forms from NVC.

Good luck

^^ Good point, LingChe's guide was invaluable to us as well. As evident from both canadian_wife's and my timeline we made it through NVC quite quickly!
