Okey dokey, I am kind of confused--this should be an easy one--when everyone refers to being 'touched', what does this mean? How do you know ifyou have been? Maybe I have been missing something. We sent in our K1 petition in March and I have received email notifications of when the petition arrived, was transferred, RFE'd...is that considered 'touched'? I've also been checking my status on the USCIS site and the note on my case is the same as the last email notification I received. If there is something else I am missing/not checking, I'd like to know! :o) Perhaps I just don't use the correct terminology!

Also, according to my timeline, it said that I *should expect* an answer on my case as early as July 10th--if it is 10 days after that date, I should try contacting the office. How can I contact the California office? The phone number listed on one of the letters I received says the number is not valid when i call. I looked up the number via the internet and it was the same and didn't work. Any ideas or help? Maybe I am jumping the gun and need to keep on being patient...I just wanted to somehow check and make sure it hadn't been lost in the shuffle or anything. I suppose I am more nervous b/c when I received an RFE a while ago (there was an ammendment or something), another lady's papers had been stuffed in the enveolope with mine! Now I can't help but worry that my letter has been stuffed in someone else's envelope? Actually, that is when I was trying to get a hold of the CA center b/c I wanted to alert them right away that I had received someone else's papers along with mine. I ended up just mailing it back to the center which sadly just added on days to this poor lady's waiting time. Hmm...sorry, I may have lost my point. Basically, how can I talk to a human at the CA center? :)

Thanks guys! Sorry if I rambled on!

Touched is when you see the "last date updated" change on the USCIS website. Some people see this change regularly - others, never.

Timelines are completely screwed up due to USCIS's fiasco in handling IMBRA (the law that passed in January that they didn't comply with - this is the reason you got the RFE).

The only way to reach CSC is: CSC-XII.129f@dhs.gov but only one guy answers emails and let's just say he has zero information and minimal command of the English language so keep your expections extremely low.

If you want to get help, get your senator's office involved. Go to their website, download the privacy form, fill it out with your case information, fax back to them and call the next day to follow up. Make sure you get the name of the caseworker and push them to give you a direct phone number and email address so you can stay on top of that person. They can make an inquiry on your behalf and provide information to you.

Having said all that - many many many of us are in the same position as you. Since you sent back the RFE, it is really just a waiting game. There is no rhyme or reason to how they are processing approvals at this point - seems they have decided to completely ignore the NOA1 date and are going by RFE return date. You may also want to check the posts in the IMBRA thread about how to contact the Director of CSC via certified mail if you want to go that route.

You are not alone . . . good luck.
