APRIL I-751 Filers

I'm really trying to be hopeful... another day, no check cashed... just seems very strange that people's checks are being cashed that arrived later than our packet. oh well. Chin up right? His card does not expire till July 14th, so we have time before true panic.

So... after getting NOA1.. do we just sit around waiting for a biometrics appointment letter? Nothing we can do to speed up the process or prepare for the process? I wish there was a way to track the application before getting the bio letter.

oh my god.... i knew something was wrong. Our entire packet got returned today with the check!!! I am so mad at myself I could scream!!!!!!!!!! They want me to send all the evidence back (nice of them to neatly pack and rubber band it together for me) along with my CORRECTED check. Do you know what I did.................... I wrote out the check I made it out to US Department of Homeland Security, wrote 545.00 in the box....... signed it......... but I FOROGT TO SPELL OUT FIVE HUNDRED and FORTY-FIVE DOLLARS and xx/100. in the second line. I am so mad at myself and in fairness, I really wish the agent at uscis would have told me on the phone. This is so unlike me to do something so stupid! I remember though that day was really really stressful and I was racing to get everything done, and I mess up the gosh dang check. arghhh. now I have no car tonight and can't mail back until tomorrow which seems like an eternity b/c we go on vacation on friday so I won't know what's going on till I get back on May 6th if we are lucky.... what horror :-( my only stupid fault.

I so need a hug. And a tall glass of scotch... wait I don't like scotch... make that a pina colada.

I was a bit worried they were sending the packet back when they had not cashed your cheque(this happened to me with AOS..my stupid lawyer messed up the fee..thats why I kicked her to the curb..lmao) not to worry...you'll send it back and all will be well!

I'm sorry to hear that, but at least now you know for sure and you can fix it and it's an easy fix. You still have plenty of time till the green card expires too, so go grab that pina colada, re-write your check and breath. You'll be fine, it's only an other trip to the post office.

Ouch! If it makes you feel any better; though I doubt it ;P, when I sent our I-129F way back when I sent them a check which happened to have a picture of Big Ben on it as I had these checks that had famous places from around the world. They sent it back saying it was drawn up on foreign money even though it said USD and was an American bank (Wachovia). So I had my mom send it back as I was in London at the time with a letter from our branch manager confirming that this was a legitimate check. They sent it back again saying it was already endorsed (BY THEM). I was furious. Thankfully my mom at the time had power of attorney for me while I was in Grad School and she got a certified check and sent it in and the 3rd time was the charm. I learned from that point forward to just do a certified check from my bank as I could still track it being cashed by just making a call. Funny enough we got the NOA1 before the most recent check was cleared.

oh no! I hope I don't have a problem!! I'll freak out. All I did was correct the check they sent back (filled in the Five hundred and forty-five dollars on line two)

There was no bank stamp on it, but there was a Vermont Service Center stamp that said "For Deposit Only" I assumed that all I had to do was correct the check, not write a new one" To me, the check was not processed or even given the bank yet and for deposit only would be stamped on anything that goes to the bank...

If they send it back again, I will just scream. I think my stress level is about to go into over drive and all I want to do is enjoy my vacation.. ughhh.

Just take a deep breath, a glass of wine and fill out a new cheque and resend it off tomorrow. So silly that they can't just fill it out, but I guess it makes sense they can't. It is going to be fine, you will still be an April filer and think of it this way, you go on vacation and you don't have to worry about getting your bio letter while you are away. Have a wonderful vacation, and let this go and just enjoy.

The issues is that it was mailed already with orginal check. So I won't know for about a week weather they are going to kick it back to me. I thought of sending a separate check in, but I don't hold up hope that it would get attached to the correct paperwork, or that somehow they would wand up cashing two checks... and that would not be good. So its a wait and see and pray and hope they don't send it back again.

Not that it would likely be an issue (one would hope), but is the year extension one year past the expiry date of the GC or one year from the date of the NOA1?
