It's pretty ironic that such a website would use the image of General Patton and try to link him to their own Zionist propaganda -- I mean considering that Patton was actually opposed to the establishment of a Jewish State in Palestine (or anywhere else, for that matter.) Patton's argument was that the Jewish people hadn't been a country for two thousand years and were no longer a nationality at all, but rather a religion.

i find this rather ironic too.

21 dec 1945 - patton died right after the end of ww2. 14 may 1948 israel was created, the day before the palestine mandate was due to expire. i seriously doubt he was a voice against the creation of such.

now where is it that patton was arguing against the creation of israel? link please.

Patton was a known anti-semite.. considered Jews to be subhuman. I will look for a link but that is commonly known about the man.

What's the betting that in his own estimation he wasn't a racist - just 'stating the facts'

WRITING in his journal on Sept. 15, 1945, Gen. George S. Patton, commander of the Third Army and liberator of Nazi concentration camps, had this to say about the emaciated people under his care: ''Others believe that the Displaced Person is a human being, which he is not, and this applies particularly to the Jews who are lower than animals . . . a subhuman species without any of the cultural or social refinements of our time.'' Some of the liberated Jews were persecuted, physically abused and even murdered in the postwar period. The vast majority were swatted away as nuisances or swindled.

his comments that he made are easily attributed to the fact that their hygiene, after being in a concentration camp, was lacking. and i'd say such was understandable.

here's a site for you....

The only time Patton ever slowed down was when his 3rd Army liberated the Nazi Concentration camp at Buchenwald. When he saw what the Germans had done to the Jews and Gypsies of Europe he was so disgusted that he immediately enacted a strict policy forcing all German citizens in neighboring cities and towns to tour the camps to witness the result of their hateful nationalism. Other generals adopted Patton's policy upon liberating other concentration camps.

sure don't sound to me like someone who hated jews....maybe was less than pleased about their bathing habits.

Note the text in bold. He doesn't think any other people would have degraded as much as the Jews did. What does that say about his opinion of Jews?

Patton is da man!

He is one of my all time favorite generals.

Alexander, Scipio and Hannibal are mine ;)

Nice choices, but I am more modern.

Rommel

Patton

Von Schlieffen

throw Guderian in there too.

Why do the Germans always produce top notch tacticians?

As I said I don't think anyone who is racist necessarily is aware or accepts that they are racist - and they certainly wouldn't admit it. I've no doubt that this guy would claim to be merely 'stating the facts' rather than having some sort of inbuilt personal prejudice towards jewish people.

Of course, you have to give him credit for the fact that in his time it was more acceptable to hold ideas that nowadays we would consider politically incorrect or racist. For instance, I like a lot of the old pulp fiction writers from the 1930's - very good storytellers but their stuff is loaded with that sort of stuff, which makes reading them sometimes a little uncomfortable. People are a product of their time, and you have to judge them accordingly - so while Patton may be a anti-semite racist (at least according to the posted comments) its important to view those comments in the context of the time in which they were uttered. If someone said something similar today they would likely be lampooned and (rightly) subjected to ridicule.

Same thing with ancient history - people often judge the greeks and romans with today's moral standards.

I noticed that the pro-Zionist website from which the Patton "parody" came includes a disclaimer calling him a "son of a b*tch anti-Semite."

Patton's diaries and letters reportedly contain some extremely derogatory remarks about the Jewish people.

Anyway, the plan to create a Jewish homeland in Palestine began long before 1948... it was in the works since just before the turn of the 20th century. People all over the world were discussing the pros and cons of the idea for several decades before the rise of Hitler and World War II.
