It's my money! I don't want to pay a penny more for my insurance premium so that the insurance companies can line the pockets of the lobbyists. I want my money to go to people who are sick.

Feel free to donate your hard-earned cash to the nearest walk-in clinic for the poor.

that'd be nice. it'd also be nice to know just how much money the politicians in those meetings were promised for their future campaigns from those lobbyists too.

Smoke, the pharma/medical companies are one of the targets of the healthcare reform so I don't understand what you are trying to get at. If I were a pharma lobbyist and very much against healthcare reform why would I be promising money to the very people who are trying to erode my profit margins?

My husband and I already support a few charities that help the poor here in the US.

 sure they were. thats why the name was changed in mid stream from 'healthcare reform' to 'health insurance reform' & also why their lobbyist were involved in the writting of the legislation. they were given a pass on 'reform'. don't think so? tell me how their profits are going to be negatively effected by this so called 'reform'.

The insurance/pharma/medical companies love this bill. They wrote the damn bill. Just take a look at their stock prices.

Ok. Here's United and Wellpoint*, over the last three years, compared to the DJIA and the S&P 500.

Look good to you?

* I picked these two health insurers because they are the most vested in the small-group and individual markets, the two market segments most impacted by the new law.
