Perhaps this has been asked before but, what's the difference between these emails?

1) On July 20, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case.

2) On July 28, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

3) This case has been approved. On August 1, 2006, an approval notice was mailed.

I'm just curious, what's the difference between the welcome notice approval on July20 and the other two? Is the August 1 approval, basically stating that the GC was done and mailed?

1) The Welcome Notice comes after approval welcoming you to the U.S. as a Permanent Resident.

2) This is just telling you that your card has been ordered, and you should be receiving it shortly.

3) The approval notice is usually the first notice, but the good part is you got it.

Oh believe me, I'm not complaining, I'm just as happy as can be. Just, why isn't the first welcome notice tied to the last approval. can you get the first welcome notice and then be denied? Its like the Abbott and Costello, Who's on First? Not only is the entire process sometimes confusing, so is the approval process. They just want to keep you on your toes, the entire time. ;)

The way I understand it:

E-mail # 1 = Welcome Letter was mailed

E-mail # 2 = Greencard was ordered

E-mail # 3 = Greencard was mailed

I don't think there is a separate "approval notice" although I could be wrong. At any rate we didn't get one. I've always understood it as "approval notice" = greencard.

Congrats - you should be getting the card any day now! :)
