Medical GP Letter

Hi everyone,

My fiance had his interview in January and was approved pending a letter from his GP to supplement the medical. Because he was in the middle of moving it took forever for his medical records to be forwarded and for the new doctor to write him the letter. The letter will be sent this week. Does anyone know if this timespan from the interview to the embassy receipt of the letter and medical information will be a problem? Is there a deadline of some kind that I don't know about?

Thanks.

There is one place to check - if the visa was not issued and further evidence was required, he should have been given a paper with the evidence required. If there is a date when it should have been sent back it will be on that paper. Also, it should have instructions for the reply which will likely include what to send in - Dr's letter, passport, that request for further documents.

If you don't have the letter or there is no date, then after the letter has been delivered (Send it with tracking!!!) the beneficiary can call the embassy extortion line (it's on the London info page - see the Embassy Info link at the top of the page) and ask to be sure that a. The case is still open and b. the letter was received.

Alternatively, along the same time frame (a few days after delivery) the USC can call the Department of State and see what the embassy system has. You can find the DOS number by searching here at VJ for DOS phone number..

All that said, back to your question - No, I don't think a few months is a big deal - heck, we've heard that they keep that petition (valid for 4 months) open for a year without any further input!
