Oh I am kicking myself for just realizing that I put down the wrong POE on my I485. I listed Chicago, IL instead of Calgary, AB... which is where they took my immigration package. I said Chicago because that was the airport I landed at...

What do I need to do to go about rectifying this?

I believe that your Port of Entry is the airport where you landed at.

There are two possibilities. Either this will cause a problem, or it will not. The latter is more likely.

There is a good chance that the main consequence of this is that the adjudicator will be slightly confused for a moment, reread the paperwork from the PoE, chalk it up to an innocent mistake, and move on. In this case, nothing noticeable will happen, your case will be processed as normal, and like everyone else, you may or may not get an interview. If you get an interview, mention this at the interview, explaining that it was an innocent mistake. The IO will correct the paperwork, and that will be the end of it.

There remains a small chance that the adjudicator will be VERY confused by this, wonder what is going on, stop the adjudication process, and issue an RFE. If this is the case, you will receive notification by mail, asking you to send in some documentation about where you PoE'd. Once you respond to that (following carefully any instructions in the RFE letter), your case processing will proceed normally. As noted above, you may or may not get an interview. As above, if you get an interview, mention this at the interview, explaining that it was an innocent mistake. As the paperwork will already have been corrected by the RFE process, everything should be fine.

To sum up: if they ask you about it by a mailed RFE, send them whatever they ask for (in all likelihood, a copy of your I-94 and a brief letter of explanation). Don't try to send in an explanation preemptively - they'll have too hard a time getting your letter hooked up to your case file.

If you don't hear anything prior to the interview, just mention it at the interview.

Either way, don't worry too much until your interview, or you get an RFE by mail. It will almost certainly be fine.

DON'T PANIC
