Is there any problem giving her magic jack? I ask because Magic Jack is likely not registered in the name of the foreign beneficiary, it is in the name of the US Petitioner. So when you submit phone records they will see you are calling a phone that is not registered under the beneficiary's name.

I'm not sure if this is an issue or not, but just something I have been thinking about.

I gave my wife magic jack too - but for some technical reasons it froze her computer, so she gives me missed calls and I call her back.

Bobby, USCIS is not going to look at this minute details :-) If they start investigating all these, I will be approved after 2 years :-)

We use Vonyage, Skype and Reliance and adding all that $25 + $8 + $30 per month.

We normally talk when I am hitting bed and once before she would hit bed so twice in a day and it depends some days its for hrs we talking and some days its few mins depending on whats going on.

Very similar story to mine.....except I use magic jack......and calls on her cell in usa. (we have 5 our choice of no. free when we call that no. or we receive call from that no. in our cell phone plan)

Oh yikes guess i forgot to update this thread.

I switched to Vonage few months ago and it has been perfect for us!

Plan to keep it even when the wife is here. Figured she will be calling her parents often anyways.

For any of the Indians and many other people here who have mentioned they use Vonage - here is one cool trick for when you are traveling to meet your foreign spouse in their country.

1) Setup your USA Cell phone to forward calls to your USA Vonage Number

2) Setup your USA Vonage number to International Call Forward to a foreign number (example: foreign spouse's mobile number)

Now you can keep in touch instantly with your USA friends, family and office related concerns. Just tell everyone to keep calling you on your USA Cell Phone. The call will automatically forward to whatever foreign cell phone you have on your possession !!!

Pretty nifty stuff that a friend told me about so I thought to share it !!!

My husband's bills have been amounting to nearly $500 for the last couple of months.

We also stay in contact throughout the entire day via AIM, Skype, Facebook and text messages.

We've been trying to cut down on his phone bills. Managed to get it to $300 this month.

I've been urging him to get a Mother India account which is $10 for 500 minutes. Or Skype which is unlimited for $8 monthly.

Anyone know if there are special rates or such for Verizon?

TOTAL COST OF THIS RELATIONSHIP .. is not calculable and it would make me sick if I tried. Apartments in two countries, plus utilities etc, then add travel.. ouch

Telephone.. well you have SKYPE on both ends so that is the cost of internet connection in two countries. We have SKYPE forward calls to cell phones so inbound minutes for him, plus the many text messages are about .09 each for me and I have no idea what his cell bill is. We try to talk as much as possible on SKYPE. I call his cell and he gets on internet to chat, since he pays internet by the minute too. I spend about $25-35 a month on Skype calling his cell, and I have no idea on his end what inbound minutes cost.
