Haha what a question !

I use two services, one on my cell phone and one at home. The one on my cell phone charges by the minute, and in the past has cost as much as $50 in one month.

At home I primarily use Vonage to call India and spend only about $32 per month on that. I heard of a new promo offer from Vonage, so I will try to call and get a lower price. :-)

We usually talk twice a day - once when she wakes up and I am going to bed, and again when I wake up and she is going to bed.

We very rarely talk on email or use text chatting, it is usually on the phone.

CR-1 Visa Was Approved :-)

Entry Date to USA: 2/3/2011

12-10-2012 - Sent off I-751 packet visa USPS

Hey CR1-Filers,

so I was wondering how much you/your spouse spends on phone bills a month?

How many hours to you talk on the phone?

And since we are talking about "communication":

how much time a day do you spend talking/skyping/texting/emailing etc with your spouse?

:dance::dance::dance::dance:

My only communication with my wife is by phone, and I have been using phone cards since, it is the cheaper option and it forces us to hang up when the card expires...No games of "you hanging up first..., no you hang up"

Although, most of the time I would just use another card and call back right away...lol. I have been saving my used cards and since September I have used well over a 1000 cards with a average being $2/cards so i'm already over 2K...hehe

That is about how much ours is a month

(well, not quite. But almost)

That leads me to another question:

how much do you think your long-distance-relationship costs you a month?

Plane tickets, phone bills etc?

Now that I am here i have heard about Magic Jack. if we knew about it while I was still in Australia we would have used that (and I'll be sending it home to my mother)

I paid $30 for 750 minutes. I tended to use that up over a month which I didn't think was too bad. We also used MSN for video chat and just webcam to see each other while typing. We also wrote, send packages and wrote emails.

Not too expensive in the long run.

Yeah June we do keep meeting here and there ;-)

I don't know how many minutes it is - but probably about 1 hour total per day, and longer on the weekends.

It costs a heavy $1200 to fly over there to India during peak season, but I cannot do that too often. I plan to go for the interview however, so that will be my second trip this year.

We text once or twice a day and talk once every few days. T-mobile charges me 20 cents for sending a text and nothing for receiving. There is lots of e-mailing too.

For calls to Delhi I use a service that charges by the minute. I recharge my account by a few dollars every week and it is sufficient. And I can call from any phone.

Interestingly the lawyer had recommended getting an old-style long-distance carrier so a record of phone conversations and the bill can be used as proof of a relationship at the interview!

I only have a record of the text messages. Hopefully that will suffice!

Mine is about $30 a mnth...I use vonage...cheap cheap considering we spend about 4 hours on the phone a day

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Wonder if i should change to Vonage.

Currently I call through my cell and home phone by calling a Reliance Global Call number and then wife's India number. Cost is $1.99 a minute.

I use up about $100 a month just on talking on the phone. Luckily though we use the internet/webcam quite a bit too.

Blah.

I use a VOIP service that gives me free calls to China. So far, my highest month minutes with them was 4900 minutes - at 0 billing.

Apprently, they give free calls to China, HKG, and Singapore (the 3 places I call the most) too.

I pay 19.95/month for this, plus the internet connection. Had them for about 6 years now.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

My husband's bills have been amounting to nearly $500 for the last couple of months.

We also stay in contact throughout the entire day via AIM, Skype, Facebook and text messages.

We've been trying to cut down on his phone bills. Managed to get it to $300 this month.

I've been urging him to get a Mother India account which is $10 for 500 minutes. Or Skype which is unlimited for $8 monthly.

Anyone know if there are special rates or such for Verizon?
