I think it's around 100 miles actually, even more than that.

I felt it, that was a weird one compared to the last 4.4 one.

The house felt like it was shaking in circles. My head was spinning for a while after it stopped.

Major Earthquake Near Mexicali Rocks Southern California

USGS: Quake clocked in at magnitude-6.9.

Mexicali - A magnitude-6.9 earthquake epicentered near Mexicali has rocked all of Southern California, and set high rise buildings in Los Angeles and San Diego rocking back and forth.

Preliminary USGS information indicated the epicenter was 19 miles southeast of Mexicali in Baja California, at an area that has been rocking with magnitude 3.0 quakes all week.

Los Angeles fire department officials have gone on earthquake status, and are inspecting buildings and overpasses for damage.

Elevators are stuck in some buildings in Los Angeles, according to fire department radio dispatches.

I was really surprised how long it shook too!

It must have been at least 10 seconds, the last one I felt only lasted like 4.

It was nearly 30-40 seconds here - that's what freaked me out - I kept expecting it to stop, and it just got stronger and stronger.

It shook for about 15 seconds here in the San Fernando Valley -- it felt like my house was on a raft on ocean waves. I thought I was going to be seasick. My husband was in a car headed out to near Palm Springs and felt nothing; but when he stopped at a Ralphs to get something he said there were items all over the floor.

Yes, that's what it felt like here - exactly like my house had suddenly relocated to the ocean!

The cat was utterly unimpressed. As I rushed over to him as he lay in splendor in an easy chair, to comfort him in this confusing hour, he looked up at me and yawned. Then he noticed all the birds were freaking out which was MUCH more interesting.

Aw man, I bet being in a pool during an earthquake would be fun.

Wave pools are awesome.
