Dear all,

My wife and I are both U.S. Government Contractors stationed in Afghanistan. I'm trying to send my application for Naturalization under Section 319(b) of the Act and I have the following questions.

1. We live in Augusta, GA. Which Service Center should I send my application to if I'm sending it through Overnight Express Mail?

2. As I heard that most of the USCIS Local Offices don’t have any clue about Naturalization under Section 319(b) of the Act therefore what USCIS Local Office do you recommend for me to be interviewed and naturalized at?

Please help me get the accurate answers to my questions, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot and you all have a great day.

Matthew

Have you looked at any of the guides or information at all?

There is a whole guide for naturalization as well as the USCIS website has a whole page on where to mail to...

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Yep, I've looked at the guides for naturalization but it didn't indicate much instruction for Naturalization under Section 319(b) of the Act, especially the questions that I’ve asked above.

I called this number, their response was that first of all they didnt have any clue about Naturalization under Section 319(b) of the Act and second since Im not applying base on our service in the Armed Forces of United States they are not able to help and asked me to call the general costumer service number which they also claimed that what I'm asking for is not possible. :(

You can call military helpline for exact answer. 1-877-247-4645

Base on the Fairfax, VA FAQs for Naturalization under Section 319(b) of the INA where it says "As an applicant for naturalization under section 319(b), you may be interviewed at any USCIS office of your choice in the United States," and then on the other part where it says "If your interview site will be Fairfax, Virginia, you may file your application directly with the Vermont Service Center" now does this mean that regardless of where my geographical location is I can choose to file my application with Vermont Service Center and then request to be interviewed at the Faifax, Virginia District Office #7???

Please advise and let me know if I got this right. Thanks!

Yes, that's correct. Make sure you also put this in your cover letter.

I'm in Atlanta and am currently in the middle of my 319b application. I'm doing mine through Fairfax, VA and they've been absolutely AMAZING!

Firstly, Atlanta has a VERY bad reputation with the military, and so I avoided them like the plague. Have seen many a disaster go through Atlanta ... they don't even take any notice of the Senators here.

I sent my packet to the Vermont Service Center, requesting my process go through Fairfax. They infact forwarded it to the National Benefits Center. The NBC sent me for finger prints in Atlanta (really fast and easy), but called me 2 days later to let me know that my finger prints were back and they were packing my file for expedited processing ... did I want it to go to Faifax as requested or to Atlanta as it was closer? I requested Fairfax, obviously.

The lady said it would arrive within 2 days, but to give them 4 for unpacking time.

I'd called the military helpline previous to receiving this call as I was worried they were going to ignore my request for Fairfax, as I'd been sent for prints in Atlanta. They were fabulous (it truly is different when you're doing citizenship) and very knowledgable about the 319b ... the key is to only talk to the citizenship department, I always talk with the same lady, bar once. Both knew it all.

A few days later, I had an email from a supervisor at Fairfax, with his cell number at the bottom of the email, saying he was contacting about my interview date. I sent a request for a specific date ... a couple of hours later I had a typed up form with my date and time. Nothing like the other guys on here have had ... it's definately more personal. My letter isn't a NOA at all and even has the name of the person who will be interviewing me.

I haven't had my interview yet, it's next week ... but I already know when my oath is going to be. Yes, they called me to see if I wanted the oath on the same day, or if I'd like it on another day ... total cart before the horse, but then we're jumping all the normal processes everyone else goes through.

My greencard is conditional, I do know that you must take the oath before your condition removal paperwork is due to go in. If you miss the date, you'll need to send in both the N-400 and the condition removal paperwork ... my oath date is literally a week before my condition removal paperwork is due to go in, so I'm happy to save the cash on that.

Hope this helps.

How is it going?

So I mailed my application to the Vermont Service Center a few days ago. How long did it take you to hear from them back or another word how long did it take you to receive the first Notice of Action? Please advise!
