At least you had a relationship with this guy, as little as it was! First time this happened to me, it was like:

(sitting on bench at wallyworld because I locked my keys in my car yet again)

"Hi. How are you?"

"...fine...you?"

"Good. You want date?"

"What?"

"Maybe marry me?"

"I am married..."

"That's okay. You marry me, maybe we go out?"

I knew what the guy wanted but people not familiar with immigration (like my friends) just thought that the guy was crazy. Really, they are approaching this all wrong!

I did feel kinda shitty. Like...do I look that sad/pathetic/ugly/desperate? (Never mind that I'm wearing my wedding rings.) But then one of my very good looking friends also had this happen so I felt better. :)

Is she married?

They can be, to an undocumented alien.

Wassup? What City? :D

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I have people approach me asking for my autograph and I have to keep telling them I'm not Gerard Butler.

You are so funny, Mr. Butler can I have your autograph.

In some Russian/Ukrainian circles here GS marriage is worth about $30-40K as far as I know. At least that's what I heard 3 years ago when my friend was offered to do it.

I wouldn't do it for any amount of money though. ** that.

Слава Україні!

There are a few sheep in my flock available for GC marriage. For the right price, of course.

Yeah, but the GC is made of grass. :P

I've never had anything like that happen to me.

I, however, have been asked how Luis got his residency in the US and if I could "help others out" with their paperwork. as if we did it a shady way or on the down-low or something.

This happened to my best friend when she was in the military many years back (1994)... She was stationed in South Korea and at the time there were thousands of men from Hong Kong who wanted to get out before the Chinese takeover so they could move large amounts of $$$ out of Hong Kong. She was approached by several men in nice suits who represented rich bankers who wanted a GC to get out of Hong Kong. They were offering yearly stipend of $25,000 a year for the first 2 years, then a balloon payment of $100,000 after the 10 year GC was received, Plus travel and legal expenses....

She admitted that she was tempted, however the military and consulate was on to the scam and there were 2 women GI's who were prosecuted by court martial that year for accepting the offer so of course she said no...

When I was stationed in South Korea (85-86) I was offered 10,000 and sometimes up to 20,000 to marry and bring over one. It was very common there and more than a few took it up.
