Address on 2009 Taxes- DCF implications

Hello all, I just got married to my longtime girlfriend from Colombia and we are trying to go through the DCF route. Also, as many of you Americans know, it is tax season yay!!! Anyways, there is a question during the tax filing process that asks if your address is outside the United States. All of my mail still goes to my permanent residence address in California, but I am currently living in Colombia with my wife. Would it look better to the Embassy authorities if I put my address abroad, or does it not make a difference? They will see my 2009 taxes for the interview, and will see my address on the top so I was wondering which would be better for DCF purposes, US or my address abroad? Thanks in advance!

oh and for all purposes of the IRS, I can put my California address since my drivers license, voter registration, previous years taxes, etc. are listed under that address, so either one of these address options would be safe for me to report.

You can put your American Address. I used my GA address for my 2009 taxes. To get DCF successfully you have to prove US domicile. Having filed your taxes using your "permanent address" in the states is a good way to help prove your US domicile. Keep in mind that you must claim any income made in Columbia (if you had any) but other than that, no problem using your CA address.

I assume you have other documents to show your Colombian residency, and so you don't need your taxes to do that!
