Enquiry about EAD, AP & Greencard

Hello to everybody,

can anybody explain me the difference (once I'll be starting the AOS process) between asking

right away for EAD and AP, or not asking for them and waiting later just for the Greencard?

It might sound a silly question, but going through the messages I got a little bit confused, is it just a matter of time to wait only for the greencard a little bit more or there is a more specific reason to ask for EAD and AP at the same time of AOS?

well, some people have to wait many, many months before receiving their GC..

So if you want to work in the meantime, or travel to your home country, send everything together.

we were optimistic when we started the AOS process...and so, although we did apply for AP, we didn't apply for the EAD, thinking that the green card would arrive soon. it's now been a year, and still no green card.

my thoughts to you is to go ahead and apply for everything together.

If you don't need to work or travel until your green card arrives, than you don't need to apply for EAD and AP. It takes 2-3 months to get EAD or AP so if you might need them prior to getting the green card (which can take up to a year or longer) so it would be good to apply all at one.
