I-864EZ or I-864

I know I am eligible for I-864EZ as I fulfil the three conditions.

- I filed I-130, or at least my lawyer did.

- I am only sponsoring my wife

- I am only using my own income and W-2s

But still, if I were to fill up the I-864 instead of I-864EZ would they reject it?

I was leaning towards I-864 as I wanted to send my bank statement to bolster the case. But that also consists of my own earnings only. So an I-864EZ should suffice.

But has anyone received an RFE for using I-864 when I-864EZ would have sufficed?

You can use the I-864 even when you are eligible for the EZ version... It is no differnt than using the 1040 when you could have used the 1040A or EZ to do your taxes.. Just does not work the other way around

If you solely qualify on income alone, go ahead and use the EZ form.

Guess what? It's easy.

I think I will toss a coin to decide which one I file. For now I am just busy getting documents together.

This forum is great help. I also noticed that http://immigrantvisas.state.gov is an excellent authority to get information on NVC and consulate procedures, and of course to make payments for fees and getting forms. Beyond that, I'm glad VJ is there to clarify doubts!

I weighed my options too but decided to go ahead with the EZ form. I figured that they are looking at enought files and forms so why add more to it?

I just noticed that I-864 downloaded from the link on immigrantvisas.state.gov is editable and can be saved with the information filled in.

The I-864EZ, however is editable but you can't save it. You can only print it.

That is strange indeed. They should maintain consistency.

I am using Adobe Reader 9.3.1

I suppose printing and signing it is more important but it is useful to keep a saved copy of the filled form.

Anyone know if an editable and save-able copy of I-864EZ is available somewhere?
