So most of you guys know my story, after 3 years we got our interview, only to be told the info that the DoS gave me was wrong and they requested additional documents. Those were sent off and now we are waiting. But after 3.5 years of enduring this immigration process we decided enough was enough and contacted our congressmen.

The lady in the office emailed MTL and is waiting for a response. Does anyone else have any input here, Im not sure what the next step will be. Will they tell her the paperwork is right and issue my visa? Will they tell her the paperwork is right and throw me in the back of the pile? What if the paperwork is wrong?

I hope its the first one. But if anyone else has experience with this, please let me know :)

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

I've read your prior post and you have all my sympathy and prayers. You are very strong to have survived what you have been going through.

IMO contacting the congress person is the best thing you could have done, you are way past the time for some answers. They will contact the embassy, usually by email, and receive a prompt response. What this will do is give you an answer as to why your visa is being delayed. Please understand if you are undergoing AP there is nothing the congress person can do to speed it up. BUT with this said, maybe the embassy will place more emphasis on your case as the embassy can request follow ups on your AP and find out what is taking so long.

BTW have you called DOS to find out what the status of the case is? They can usually tell you if it is in AP or at the consulate or other general information.

I didnt think of the DoS actually. The lady at the congressmens office said she should get back to us on monday or tuesday. Im going nuts waiting here!!! Lol. Usually I like easter, but MTL is closed today for the holiday..grumble grumble. Holidays irritate me now because it means no one is looking at our case!!!!

Hopefully we hear something soon. Its my hubby's birthday today, and he is all mopey because we arent there to celebrate with him. And skype just doesnt cut it sometimes.

Call the DoS and ask for the status of the case... The congressman can do the same at the consular level as well... the consulate should give them a resonse in a few days.. it may take a few more for the congressional liason to get back to you...

Yes it will help. It will mean that the consulate actually has to answer to someone. As you already know, none of these departments are answerable to you or your Husband personally. You can email Montreal 10 times and still never get a straight answer.

You do need to call DOS, it's also great that you now have your congressman involved. Don't sit back and be passive, stay on it, eventually they will get tired of you and give you your visa :)

Your congressman's office should be able to tell you what they are actually doing right now. If it is something like a name check, keep on top of that, have them inquire on your behalf every-other week or so.

Good luck.

It helps more than do NOTHING, thats for sure, lol If ya dont try, you just wont ever know. For them it should be pretty easy to get a reply from Mtl--and political people like easy stuff, lol Hope it works out

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Never be afraid or shy to contact congressmen or senators! This is your case and you dont have to be rude but you can be persistent. I probably talked with the Senator's office by email, phone, and in person 20+ times to make sure they were on top of things.

She's emailed them to enquire about our case. I spoke to her on friday and she says she is still waiting for a reply from them, and that sometimes it can take up to a week as MTL is really backlogged...yadda yadda. I suppose I should be used to waiting after 3 and a half years.. whats another week right. Except its not that easy, and Im going insane!!!! :bonk:

We had very good results contacting our congressman. I had to reschedule my Montreal interview due to the fact that I was due to give birth to our first child close to the same time. The rescheduling of the interview was taking months and months and finally we wrote our congressman and within a few weeks we received word back from his office saying that Montreal has re-scheduled our interview and shortly after we received confirmation from Montreal on the rescheduled date.

Always worth a try to see what they can do.

Hi coraliesolms,

I don't know about Montreal...but..I can tell you that..

As for getting the congressman involved...I did, for the I-751/10yr green card stage...And let me tell you, it sure helped! (see my detailed VJ timeline for more info)....And yes, I encourage you to contact your congressman/senator too. They definitely have a lot of "political pushing" when it comes to cases....;)

Good luck in getting your congressman/senator involved! And I hope that they can help you with your case too...

Hope this helps. Don't give up!
