I think you should visit Auschwitz in Poland. I would do that if I were traveling in Europe.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

Amsterdam. All those places with those old churches. Battlefields are kewl. Nude beaches, Hon, your cheeks could use a bit of color.   Typical tourista places. Senlac (Hastings) is kewl, but I don't recall if htey cut off Harold's ####### there or elsewhere. All that Anatomy stuff was done in Edinburgh in the 19th century. Bremen is very hip, I hear. The Sistine Chapel.

That place is a bit too sombre for her, this is a fun trip. That also rules out Bergen-Belsen.

anywhere in EU

Well...since I'm a Bishop and all...I constantly use this website when I'm traveling round the globe: Sacred Destinations

Seriously...take a look at the EU countries you are interested on this website and you'll find a TON of historical places of interest.

For me personally if I were still traveling in EU I'd drop through Porto, Portugal and hang out in the old Town. If in France, and you haven't been to Lyon then you should definitely go there..or if you're in the mood for something really OLD and historical in France then check out Avignon...and the city center, its amazing. My favorite country in EU though is Spain. If there, check out Santiago, it is very traditional/historical and you can check out the Cathedral where Saint James lies....but if you're really in the mood for some SERIOUS partying then go to Vigo, Spain.

Quick suggestions off the top of my head...the website will give you an endless set of further possibilities.

Peace to you on your trip dear sister Amby!

5 is right. I will be boozing and having fun on this trip. I will be in Edinburgh next week.

For boozing and having fun then I would suggest starting in Lyon, towncenter...the two Rhone and Saone rivers are there and absolutely beautiful and a LOT happening during the nightlife...you'd love it. Move on over to Vigo, Spain next...its a port town on the bay and really has a great nightlife down by the water...

Seriously Amby...you'll dig these places and have a great time  ...the Bishop thus verifies them :innocent:

Thanks!

I'm looking at that site and I think my sister will love it. She's a huge history buff so looking at that will probably give her some ideas of places she'd like to go. I've been so many places I don't really care where we go, but she doesn't know what she wants to do. Planning a trip for people who have no clue what they want to do is kinda hard wacko.gif

Seriously Amby, if you're looking for drinking and having a good time then you DEFINITELY want to go to Porto, Portugal. Porto is the city on the bay in Portugal, and is home to MILES of what the Portuguese call 'Caves'...these 'caves' are where they store their barrels of Port wine! You can tour the caves, which are Port wine cellars, and have free Port wine allllllllllll day long, right on the river. IT IS AWESOME!

...you'll love the caves and then go across the river to the Gaia side of old Porto. Its WAY cool with a great downtown city square with a SHLOAD of nightlife activities....not to mention they have some pretty great beaches.

Overall...I'd say that Porto is definitely overlooked as a great tourist possibility in EU.

Peace!
