Good idea Chrito! Maybe I'll do the same. I really wanted to plant some flowers in front of my window. I have some perennials that are coming back in but I wanted to throw some other flowers in with them

I was thinking about growing tomatoes but I'm passing this year - I'll do it next year.

Almost all set and done....

I got some huge square flowerpots, one of them is for salad (sweet) you can pick the leaves off and they just grow and grow...other one is for herbs (thyme, basil, cilantro, parsley, chives)

also bought some wild flower mixes I just throw out where the loan mower doesn't go (instead of those ugly perennials) and finally I got my bird of paradise!

I'm not doing the tomatoes either, without a proper bed they just don't grow right, but hubby wants to try water melons

I have buckets of cannis bulbs to plant, but will wait and see how this weather goes. Im not going to go all out this year. I can't. It is too much for me as the years progress.

It's been a while since I had a Strelitizia, is it the regular orange one, the white one (S. alba) or the new yellow one 'Mandela?' I'm envious of your clime. DH wants to grow watermelons, the classic Stars and Moons, the Sugarbaby or one of the NC Giants? The smaller ones are fine, stay away from the giants it only leads to growing giant pumpkins. I know of one, rather unbalanced, young man who was totally consumed with the idea of growing a giant pumpkin.

I am a big fan of cannas, no matter how lousy the weather, they never disappoint. I used to have all kinds and those ubiquitous Tropicannas and I might get a Stuttgart this year. I have one canna now. I bare root them or keep them in a pot over the winter. My soil is way to heavy to grow too many tropicals.

I was like that but I ran out of space, the bananas and papayas and the frangipanis and whatever else, dontcha know. When Mom was at the height of her powers, we really went crazy with the jungle.

Good Morning Commies!

I couldn't sleep any longer... just woke up about to make some coffee. The easter bunny came! and he's one broke SOB now. We colored easter eggs last night, I wasn't able to come on VJ either because Luis & I were cleaning the house. I also took the boys for some haircuts yesterday so they look nice in the pictures.

So now I'm just preparing for the sugar-induced frenzy that's about to ensue.

Cinco: It's the regular one (reginae), I just picked the first water melon seed bag I saw (I think it's a robust, old, planter's favorite type) I'm so confused here about that whole garden thing: different climate, different soil (or the lack of it) and plants. To be precise: I got no clue
