Hi all,

NVC send my case back to the consulate on March 17. I emailed the consulate 3 days ago to see if they receive my case yet, but they haven't reply me back. Does anyone know how long does it take for them to reply to your email? Which is better, call them or email them?

Thanks

Back when I was going through the process it took a week for them to reply back to me.

Every email I have sent them has been followed immediatly by an auto response and then two weeks later a generic response from someone.

If it is something that needs a quick response, contact your congressmans office and they get a real response in 24-48 hours.. now the response may be very generic as all they can do is ask about the status of the case. If the case is pending they can't get much info, if the case is finished, they can get a bit more...

If you have the case number, and if it's logical, have your fiance/spouse go to the consulate and inquire at the window. You'll probably get better response.

Did they reaffirm your case from last year or is it a new case that has been sent to the consulate already? You may get a better response from calling DoS @ 202-663-1225 press 1 and then 0 ... they will likely give you the same info you will get from an email

Thanks for all your response,

Hi Scott, yes this is my reaffirm case. Will DOS tell me if the case is at the consulate?

Thanks for all your response,

Hi Scott, yes this is my reaffirm case. Will DOS tell me if the case is at the consulate?

They will tell you if the consulate has the electronic version of the case transfered to them, the paper copy will take a little more time than the electronic to get there. ours took 3 weeks more... The DoS folks can tell you the same thing that the consulate window clerk can as they have access to the same info system..

An email to the consulate asking if they got the case yet will take a couple of weeks and will let you know if the paper copy is there... be specific in your questions in your email to the consulate and don't bombard them with mails as that will likely cause them to stop responding... others here have not heard back now for months...
