Are you filing DCF???

If you are filing DCF then you should have nothing at all to do with NVC, so no wonder it didn't work. As far as contacting Montreal, you might try asking in the Canada Forum.

You need more specific information for people to answer your question better... There is no "Visa Center in Monteal".

If you are trying to contact the montreal consulat, you can only contact them by EMAIL. They do not take phone calls.

  • 4 weeks later...

I am starting to get a little bit worried that my husband and I missed a step along the way.

On Feb 22, 2010 we received a letter from the Montreal Consulate stating that we needed to send in our DS-230 Part 1 and 2, as well as, our checklist indicating we had obtained required documents. We also got assigned our case number. We must have sent that in a week or two later. (Unfortunately, we did not write down when we sent it or even send it in registered). Anyways, the letter states that upon receipt of these documents we will get assigned an interview for 4-6 months. We are being patient as it has only been 2 months. However, we are now nervous that the consulate didn't receive the DS-230 form and we have no way of finding out if they did or not. The other thing we are doubting is if we should have sent in the documents stated in the checklist with our DS-230 form? I have tried to read up on this on VJ and have read 2 different things. One post states that I shouldn't have sent any documents and that we should only be collecting them for when we are assigned our interview. However, in the general DCF procedures it states that I should have sent in the documents in with my DS-230 form. Which is correct?

Thanks for the clarification.

What did your checklist packet say? Did it say send in the other documents or not? I too have read of people sending in the documents and some that haven't - it doesn't seem to make any difference at all.

I have a copy of the DCF letter, however it is a year old. It specifically states not to send in the other documents.

You can see where they are up to by calling the department of state - just do a search on VJ for the phone number. Alternately you can try emailing Montreal, but they are notorious for not replying. You can get their email address by clicking the Embassy Info tab at the top of this page.

Also, for anyone that is filing within Canada, be sure to check out the domicile information in this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/ - you will want to read the first page then skip to the last page for links to reviews from people.

Does anyone know how to check the status of a case if you've applied through the Visa Center in Monteal? Or.... ask a freakin' question to human being???

I noticed that entering the Case number into the NVC website doesn't work.

Thanks.
