Hey--my cousin is right now wrangling her co-sponsor stuff, and I need some quick help before she rushes into something or skips something.

a) does anybody know the IRS tax transcript ordering number?

b) none of her docs have to be notarized, right?

c) she's balking at writing "intend" on 11. Do you think it's okay to put N/A on both of ours for London? I know London prefers intend.

d) can she black out her acct. number and things on personal docs?

I know I know some of these answers but I'm frazzled.

Thanks for helping where you can!!

1) http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=105370,00.html

To request either transcript by phone, call 800-829-1040 and follow the prompts in the recorded message.

2) No notarization is required. By signing the form she is attesting to the accuracy under penalty of perjury.

3) I think you both must put INTEND for London Embassy. If you or she does not put intend, they will kick it back and ask for new ones.

4) I am not sure about blacking out the account numbers or personal information. You could have your fiancee carry in two copies, the first blacked out, if they say they want it uncensored, then pull out the one with no blacked out entries.

Good luck

Thank you. So many tiny ambiguities in this process. And hard to explain to someone who isn't going through it that much of the journey is an exercise in doing things that don't seem to make much sense but Oh Well Do It Anyway.

Definitely do not black out personal information on an affidavit of support. They ask for the information because they want and need it. If you're going to redact an account or SS number, you might as well redact the whole package.

Heya-- Not the affidavit itself, but documents like tax things and bank stuff. I thought I had read from you in other threads that blacking out account numbers and similar sensitive details is okay. For instance the cousin in question has obtained a letter of employment from her HR, and they automatically put her social on it, which she wants to redact.

That's okay, yeah? The I-134 doesn't ask for SS number or anything like that.

The identifying information (SSN, account numbers, etc.) are needed. Without them, the documents presented could be from/about anyone.

There are many John Smiths in the world, but only one with a SSN of 123-45-6789. They would want to know which John Smith is completing the affidavit if the need to confirm information presented arose.
