Vaccination reccord for Medical Exam - What happens when it's in another language?

I have my vaccination record and am ready for my medical.

My vaccination record is in French and I'm wondering how the doctor will deal with that. I've had some people tell me that you can translate for him what it says. However, my vaccination record only has abbreviations that I've had too look up to know what they actually mean.

I've also had people tell me that I can just tell the doctor what shots I've received because, being Canadian, I am not at risk of carrying polio or other equally dangerous sickness.

Your input will be greatly appreciated. (F)

11/03/10 ------- AoS (I-130/I-485) Package mailed out (Priority Mail)

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

can you print off the translations you have looked up to take them with you? You should be able to just translate them for him, but if you bring some print outs of what the different shots are translated, might make it a little smoother.

Great idea! I will. Seems like I've received everything I needed when I Was young, I'd hate to have to go trough it again just because some doctor doesn't believe me hehe.

lol you'd probably have to do a titre test before they give you new shots, which isnt so bad, but much easier if you can just print out the translations.

Totally. Also, titer test is pricey and I'm cheap, so I'm going to try my best to make the doctor accept this translation. I've read people say that their doctor didn't even ask to see I.D., so I'm wondering how thorough they really are. hehe

Well, I have an update. After calling everyone and their mother, it seems that my French shot record is no good, a translation is required. One place said that they could do the whole medical, plus the blood work (that doesn't require AIDS testing as of this year apparently), TB and titers, for $210. This was very refreshing to hear because the place I spoke to before that didn't even mention a titer and she was going down the list of the shot I will HAVE to get (even tho I told her I already had them). Her total was close to $600. I felt like telling her to at least buy me diner before she tries to %#$@ me.

Hmmm here is a thought. I guess if you are having your interview and Medical done In Montrea. ( since it doesn't really say which one you are applying for). I don't see why you couldn't bring your French shot records with you to the Medical because pretty much all of Montreal Speak French very well and they would be able to translate all the shots that you have. The only thing is it doesn't really matter if you don't do your medical in montreal though. The medical Dr's are the only ones who really need to see the actuall shot records, and if its in montreal I'm sure they would have no problems translating it for. Thats all food for thought but of course to be on the safe side of I would try and get it translated before hand though.
