I used to have BOA way back when - hated them. Want to know why? Because someone was able to open up a credit card in my name! With no SSN! :bonk: :bonk:

No joke. I was with Washington Mutual when they went down, and am Chase now. I added my husband as an authorized user on my account, but my local branch wouldn't let me open up a new joint account. At this point...I've done as much as I can! I will have so much more for removal of conditions :)

We have a joint checking account and savings account. With Key Bank. I don't have any SSN either. I am also a secondary card holder on his two credit card accounts. We have bills in both our names, Gas, Electric, Direct TV, Time Warner. I am the beneficiary on his Life Insurance. We don't have health insurance because we can't afford it until I get a job. Is this gonna be enough stuff?

Oh, and we have a joint lease on our apartment.

guys what should I do to tell them that I changed my phone number? actually both of us me and my wife had a new plan together and we changed our numbers,, should I inform them before the interview or it will may make them delay our interview?? Can I just tell them during our interview???

Thanks buddies :)

Hi dr_no3man, I don't think they will try to contact you through phone when they already scheduled your interview (unless there's a really urgent request, which I don't think there would be, at least before the interview). I had an office mobile # which I lost when I quit my job, and that's the number I put on the AOS. I was worried about that when I got added to my husband's phone plan and had a new personal mobile #.

Turns out, no need to worry. They will probably ask you for your phone number during the interview (they did to me), and you can just provide your updated number/s to them. If they don't, there's no harm to ask. :star:

holy moly. I guess I should mention we're both college age (both recently graduated) and we still live in his parents' house.

Even his health insurance just lapsed late last year. Ugh, I can't wait for all of this to be sorted out! I think I am an authorized used on his CC! Maybe he can print something out that says that... We do have about 7 years worth of pictures

It should be easy getting an SSN - you'd just have to provide ID documents (marriage cert, passport with valid US entry stuff, NOAs, etc) and you'd receive the card in a couple weeks. So you should start applying for one, or at least try - it is a very useful thing as you go on with life in US.

If you got married fairly recently (I got married Jan 2010 - they still think it's pretty recent), they don't typically ask a lot of joint stuff, they only asked for our joint apartment lease on my case. Then again, this might depend on the the CO's experience, as mine was fairly experienced to be able to conclude lots of stuff based on just browsing through our application file.

Since you seem to get a lot more stuff at hand, that's even better. So you shouldn't worry. I think the joint bank account is the strongest case you can present. :star:

I think if you come on a K1, you can get a SSN with your marriage cert, but people changing status from other visas cannot.

Mine's entirely free because that's what I had with WaMu! I can't wait to open our joint account with Schwab. They pretty much treat their customers like rock stars.

Monday can't come soon enough.
