Dear members,,

I applied for my minor daughter overseas and her immigrant visa got approved.

I wrote my name in form DS-230 part 1, Question # 31a "Who will accompany you to United states."

Can anybody else can travel with her to United states first time?

Please anybody can answer

Thanks.

Yes, that question doesn't really have anything to do with who will actually travel with her, it is who will immigrate with her.

I'm a bit confused. When you say you wrote your name in question 31a - this was for your Daughter's DS-230 or yours (ie: did you immigrate).

The reason I am confused is - if it is your Daughter's DS-230 - your name does not belong there. As stated on the form it is a field for children or spouse that will immigrate with the beneficiary.

Thanks for reply (trailmix)

Yes, I am US citizen.

I have seen somebody DS230 filled by an attorney and he put his father name, that,s why I did the same thing, as my daughter is minor and she needs accompany some adult to travel to United States.

I am already in USA and I want somebody else can travel with her.

You're welcome!

Well their lawyer filled it out wrong :)

The form is purely for immigration purposes, not personal travel information (if you see what I mean).

Certainly someone else can travel with her, however they will not be named on the DS-230. That is between you and the person travelling with her.

Good luck

The visa applies only to your daughter, it does not allow anyone to come with her, even if they'd turn right around and leave again. If you want someone to accompany her, they would need a tourist visa of their own.

They open the envelope, it contains all your immigration documents. The person immigrating also needs to have fingerprinting done. The officer will go and enter the information in to the computer and that's about it.

They also want to see the visa in the passport as well, of course. :)
