I am wondering if I can do a walk-in tomorrow instead of wait until the assigned date but I can't find the local office's phone number or even hours of operation. Those of you that did walk-ins, could you tell me when USCIS offices normally open? Mine is in Des Moines, Iowa, btw.

I just got my biometrics letter too!

that's nice..I think you can try walk in as long as you are early..Most ASC offices opens at 8am. It's better to try done thinking about "what if" later. At least if they won't allow it, at least you've tried. ;)

I still believe doing walk ins early help your application be processed sooner.

Walking in worked. I just went there at 8 and asked them if I could do it before my appointment time. They only had one more person there, so they didn't mind.

I think it speeds things up too - all my forms were touched today

hello,

Walk in for biometric(finger printing/scanning) only means that you go there prior to your appointment... I don't know if the method is always the same in every ASC, but when I walked in for my biometrics, I went inside and saw the reception area. The security guard/ receptionist ask me if I have my appointment letter, original marriage contract and valid ID. I gave it all to him. I didn't even ask if I can walk in. But i think he saw my appointment date but he didn't care. I was there around 8am and they only have 1 client before me. I was out there by 8:40am...not bad..

I think, having biometrics done early will make your process quicker because they touch your application right after they receive your biometrics. Meaning they start to do your background check(within US and your home country)...

hope this helps.

Good luck!

ninnie

We're March Filers as well :) and we're in San Francisco.

We were married Feb 19th, and began the filing process around March 12th.

You'll have to forgive my relative ignorance on the subject-- We opted to go with an Immigration Lawyer who does most of the leg work for us. And what a blessing she is, too! My hat goes off to all those who are doing this on your own. It's such an overwhelming process!

Anyway. I just had my biometrics appointment today! I'm excited that the ball is rolling!
