Thank you to everyone for their encouraging words. My husband contacted his congressman today, and hopefully we hear an answer soon. Does anyone know what the "success rate" for congressmen getting involved is, and how quick/long its going to take?

Keeping happy thoughts for you and your family in hoping you get together soon. Meeting in a 3rd country is a good idea if you can, maybe seeing each other will help you keep up the good fight. Don't give up.

Weve thought about it. But paying 2 rents, and daughters daycare, and flying to MTL, and I had to fly to Vancouver to get Amys CRBA, means that theres really not too much money to spare. And besides, Montreal has my passport :(

Hi Coraliesolms,

Wow, sorry to hear about your situation...:hugs:

Hopefully, you are able to get something sorted out, and that your family is reunited, after such a long time!

3 yrs is definitely a long time to wait! But nevertheless, it will all be worth it in the end...

Lol..If it makes you feel any better, at the end of all of this, you'll get a 10yr green card, since you've been married for more than 2 years....(so that's a savings of $545 right there, and less hassle with the USCIS...as you skip the ROC stage afterwards....lol..)

As for getting the congressman involved...I did, for the I-751/10yr green card stage...And let me tell you, it sure helped! (see my detailed VJ timeline for more info)....And yes, I encourage you to contact your congressman/senator too. They definitely have a lot of "political pushing" when it comes to cases....

Btw..Have you applied for Canadian citizenship yet? I'm not sure if that helps your case or not, especially since you are applying from Canada...But you might want to consider such too.....

Well, I think after trying to get my IR-1 visa for 3 and a half years, having my interview on Feb 8th,only to be put into AP, Im feeling ready to give up. At this point I think theyre just trying to find reasons to not let me immigrate, and they can have it. I was pregnant when I left after we got married, thinking it would be 9 months tops, and our daughter is now 3. :( This just sucks nuts so bad.

It took them 3 years 1 month and 20 days including it having to be returned to them because of thier error. September 19, 2006 to November 7, 2009 was a long wait but not as long as yours. You are much closer to the end than you are to the beginning. I hope you get good results from your conntacts.

I was hoping Ron and Sharon would step into this conversation. Theirs is another case where tenacity and a long wait paid off in the end, although I know they despaired as well. Hang in there, Coralie - the good news is they kept your passport. The best news will be when they return it to you with the visa attached - and I hope that happens soon.

Yes, the good news is they kept the passport and other good news is you can ask to have it returned to you. When I ask for the return of my passport they sent it with a letter stating that they would need it to continue the process and I did return it within a week or so and not to long afterwards it was returned with the Visa. As mentioned earlier you could meet in Mexico then return the passport to the consulate.
