The auto response email from HCMC has been changed in the past week. I suppose in response to folks following what Bernie did.. sending timeline or other doc via email...

The plase note item is the new addition... Even though we are treated as IV we are still technically NIV applicants.(K-1's)

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS AUTOMATED NOTIFICATION

Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Consular Section of the U.S.

Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. We are currently processing

inquiries in the order of receipt and will respond to yours as quickly

as possible. Please do not send your inquiry more than once as

duplicate inquiries will delay our response time.

Please note: Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) applicants should hand carry any

supporting documentation for consideration to the interview. Supporting

documentation sent directly to the U.S. Consulate on behalf of an NIV

applicant will not be considered and the sender will not receive

confirmation of receipt.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Nice to see that things havent changed and instead of them working for us they work against us as usual. I expected that would happen if people started emailing them documents, this is for documentation purpose, if we email it we have proof we DID submit it, and proof of what was in the email, if they say they do not accept it that way they are covered. Makes sense to me, make it harder for people while making it easier for them to cover their own butts in the process, now their only recourse of action is to lie, but hmmm they would not ever lie would they???? devil.gif

Wow - that sucks :(

Another case of wasting a perfectly good tool. I guess getting out of the stone age and into mainstreaming and the use of information tools accepted in most "industry" will have to wait until the next century.

How quicly things change. You know when I sent our timeline I received a nice reply that stated the staff member who received it could not review it but it would be placed into our file for review by a Consular Officer. That was all I wanted and it worked, guess it was short lived. I mean how hard can it be. Read, print, place in file (provided the sender indicates the appropriate information in the header and body of the transmittal).

Sorry to all who I led down the wrong path. I guess we were lucky.

While frustrating I can see the logic behind it. Being sent unsolicited emails containing important information through a non-secure system can lead to even more stress and confusion.

Plus this is still the high fraud world of HCMC. They need to know who they are interacting with. If you were a CO who and what would you trust?

It could be as simple as time and money. They may have been getting flooded with electronically submitted evidence, which would require each piece of evidence to be printed and place in the applicant's file. They may have decided that this level of service wasn't included in the visa application fee.

My congressman said they have been wiring on going to an electronic system for over a year. With an electronic system, it would be drag and drop to include any info. Such a shame the protocol is what it is. The email was in response to my inquiry about our current expiration date. Fishing to see what increments they increase the date by since our petition was due to expire at the end of January.
