So my I-130 and I-129F got approved on March 24th. I received the NOA2 for both yesterday, March 29th.

I have read the IR-1/CR-1 General guide and it just says wait for the NVC to send the spouse a package.

But I see many people on this forum calling NVC and having some sort of an email communication with them. Could someone enlighten me to the pros and cons of it? I suppose it would only speed up the case.

I just called the number (603) 334 0700 but it was engaged. I read on the forum that I should keep trying!

And oh ... I do have a lawyer acting as my agent. That may make my case a bit different.

1) Should I still call the NVC if I have a lawyer? As per the NVC flowchart, the DS3032 would not be sent as my lawyer is automatically assumed to be the agent.

2) That would mean she (lawyer) would get the IV Bill too. Correct? And then the DS-230 package would also go to the lawyer?

3) What about the AOS bill? Should I call the NVC and have it emailed to me? Or is that also supposed to go to the lawyer/agent? From the flowchart I take it that it would come to me.

My lawyer seems to be either lazy, or inept. She actually told me that the I-129F would get processed even when I told her the I-130 has got approved. So she is clearly not aware of the Feb 2010 guidelines.

I want to know if calling NVC and giving them my email would actually complicate the case.

I apologize in advance if the answers to my questions are already available elsewhere on the forum.

I just got through the AV system on the NVC phone number and obtained my NVC Case Number without having to speak to anyone. Excellent!

(Thanks sachinky, for the tip about not having to wait for an agent to get the NVC number) It is AVR option 1 (IV Information)

The message said:

1) the number was entered on March 29th

2) that I should wait for 6-8 weeks for the lawyer to get the notification

3) that if I want to change my address I should press 0

So am I stuck now for a few weeks, till the lawyer gets a notification?

No. You will call again tomorrow and speak to an operator. Give them your and your spouse's email address.

Wait for a few days and you will receive an email with the AOS/IV bill in it and instructions on how to pay it.

Because of your inept lawyer, you get to bypass the DS3032 since your lawyer is automatically designated as the agent.

Follow this and you can't go wrong:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

You will skip the DS3032 as I just said.

You are now following the CR-1 route so read up on the forms and guides. Good luck.

And hop on over to the April 2010 NVC thread, ya?

Thanks for the excellent tips!

I still have a small doubt whether it is my wife, or the agent (i:e lawyer) who should get the IV fee bill and the DS-230 package. In the NVC flowchart, in the right thread, it is the agent who gets it.

The lawyer, if I remember correctly, has already charged me fees that include the IV fee.

Perhaps I should give NVC my email and the lawyer's email, rather than the wife's? Oh why does it all have to be so complicated?

I will move on the April NVC thread now, as you suggested.

Thanks again for the great contributions you make to this forum! I already ordered the tax transcripts today!
