Adoption Decree

I am a bit confused (doesn't take much, LOL) I was looking up what is needed for packet 3 so I can start that process while I'm waiting for my NOA2. I saw on the list that I would need a copy of my adoption decree. I was adopted at 6 weeks old, but my current name is the name on my birth certificate. First question...will the names of my birth parents or adopted parents be on my long form birth certificate? Second question...do I still need to get my adoption decree since my current name is the name on my birth certificate?

I interviewed in Montreal and brought my adoption decree to the interview but I was never asked for it. The last name on all of my documents matched my birth certificate, since it was redrawn at the time of my adoption. I think it may be for name discrepancy purposes, or, it may be geared towards accompanying children who are not the biological children of the beneficiary. If it's available to you, you may want to bring it for peace of mind, but I doubt you'll need it.

If your short form birth certificate is in your current last name, your birth records should have been modified, meaning there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get your long form BC in your current name as well.

I'm not stalking you, I promise, I just happened to see this topic on the "recently added" list

Hahahaha! Sorry, I know you answered my previous question about the long form birth certificate, but I still had questions. You have been very helpful. I get thinking & start doubting myself. lmao

Oh I know how it is, don't worry! And it's always nice to get a second opinion, I get that too.

Basically, the fact I was adopted never came up and never caused me an issue in any part of the process. It was really a non-issue. I can't imagine it will be any different for you :)
