Not very keen on K-1s... All the best

Hi besaangel, I saw your AOS timeline and am lucky to find someone who has experience doing AOS from F1 Student Visa. I have a question. When you filed your AOS you sent a copy of your NOA2 right? did it stated your priority date was current? The thing is that my priority date just became current today and I received my NOA2 saying I can't adjust status until my PD is current. I'm just wondering if I could send my AOS right now or I should wait for another NOA saying my date is current. Thanks...

Vanessa, I hope you can help me a bit:)

Shortly after posting this, I received my incomplete file, and applied again, by the end of May. We went to biometrics in June, by the beginning of August I received my work permit BUT the AOS has not been touched for 2 months. And no interview date established... Shall I worry? Is there anything I can do? Thank you for your time

After I reapplied 3 weeks after

Actually, the cheque is most DEFINITELY incorrect and WILL result on an RFE when it eventually gets there.

As per the instructions the cheque is to be made payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security". They will also accept "United States Citizenship and Immigration Services" but that is not listed on the I-485 instructions so I loath to do something that they don't tell me on the form I'm completing.

Here is a thread to read: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/

The mailing address is listed at the bottom of the OP. I would personally send it to the physical address which is what I did when I asked for delivery confirmation. I would HOPE the PO Box would do it the same, but I know a person would sign for my package at the physical address immediately, whereas a PO Box I would have to wait for them to collect it.

Best of luck for it to be returned speedily.

Interview Advice: At the end of the interview you will be handed an Approval (or disapproval) Letter. To prepare bring a well organized 3 ring binder with your items inserted into plastic page inserts. Photos and joint holdings (bank accounts, utility bills, insurances, etc) were the only things looked. Obviously these are overwhelmingly the most important items and the greater the number the more to your benefit. The interview is stern, business-like and professional as you would expect, but very brief. Don't be intimidated by the counsel's manner, they are just doing their job.

We applied for AOS based on K-1 for my wife 5 months ago, to Chicago Lockbox. We already got AP and EAD from Summit Lee, MI on july 13th and 22nd. On july 22nd our file for AOS got tranfred to CSC ( stating for expediting purposes), but till now we have heard no answer from CSC. I called the 800 number customer service to open a service request reffereal, but the ICE officer answering the call told me that I have to wait another 25 days to call back. We are one month pass the 4 months time period as indicated by CSC for I-485 based on K-1 visa, and do not understand how we can be delayed this long.

What should we do if any other than wait?? Is there any thing we can do?? maybe call our congress person, does that help??

Ok, I thought I had posted a reply, but I guess not. No we did not have an interview yet, that's the same thing ICE representative asked me over the phone. I guess now we have to wait for interview date...

I was also asked about the interview date, and yes, we just have to wait:)

I was looking at the timeline of others that their cases was transfered to CSC, and it seems most of them got their green card in 4 to 5 months, but it is just case by case, and I know that it can depend on who is in charge of processing the file. good luck to you.

They opened a service request for us couple of days ago, and told me that I should have a response in 30 days. It is funny, I am the US citizen applying for my wife (the Petitioner), and she is getting the green card (the applicant), but each time they want to talk to me about the case, she has to give her consent to the ICE representative, but it's all good.

My husband is a US citizen, and I am supposed to get the GC. I thought I was the petitioner.... And,yes, they told me I should have a response in 30 days, too...

Is your local Immigration office Los Angeles too? When did you file your AOS?? when was it transfered to CSC? I have heard the back log in LA office is due to the volume of applicant in Los Angeles.
