:dance::dance:

Woke up to a nice surprise - an email from USCIS saying my AOS application has been approved and card production ordered!

Email was timed 10:18 PM EDT so they must have been working late in California last night! Ironically I usually check my emails and the USCIS site just before going to bed but for some reason didn't last night.

On top of this I passed my Virginia driving test yesterday.

:dance::dance::dance:

Congrats!

I feel that too!

And I'd rather get a "no" instead of these deep silences. I mean, hello, we gave some personal info there, the least they could do is say "no" and not leave us waiting :(

My hubby put in about 30 apps online and out of those only 2 called back for interviews, one was a phone interview which then led him to a 2nd interview which is the one he is waiting now on a background check. He is climbing the walls at home :bonk: after he gets a job I'm going to need a vacation :whistle:

I got my real DL card today and am happy that I do not have to deal with SoS, SSA or USCIS for a long time! :D I thought my DL will only be valid for two years, as my green card, but no, it's valid for 4 years! YAY

I got a job few weeks ago. My first interview I went to and I got it right there and then. I'll be teaching Physics at the local community college. It's part time, so I've been applying to other colleges too, so we'll see if that works out. I also sent in many applications for non-teaching jobs, and knowing that I don't have any non-teaching experience, I wasn't confident that anyone would call. And no one did! Oh well...

0vi7t8.png

Posted (edited)

Congrats on the DL! I still need to learn how to drive... in a 1989 Jeep with no automatic gear.

So yesterday I had a big "I miss my hometown moment". I went to walmart to get my hair cut. Once I get home, brushing it to dry it, I realize it is cut in a diagonal...... :crying: So today I have to go back and have that fixed. I miss my old hairstylist! I might have to send him a card :ot:

Well..... AOS could get approved today to compensate my gloomy mood, huh?! I will complain to my cats ALL DAY and maybe the magic works!

Hello everyone and congrats to all who have had approvals! We have been waiting for our RFE which was mailed on July 14th, at this point I am almost certian it got lost in the mail. When I call the 800 number it says we need to wait 30 days before reporting that we did not recieve it. Does anyone know if this is a hard and fast rule, and what is the general timeline that USCIS gives you to return the requested documents? Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

My RFE for I-129F had a deadline of 30 days. Might be different for AOS. See if you can get in touch with USPS

Got a newspaper yesterday, marked the possible ones and now I need to send resumes, fill apps, etc. Will try and check the places nearby though, since I can't drive yet either.

Okay now I am more confused than ever. We have been waiting on the RFE that was sent on 7-14 then we get the follow notification today. Our case has been updated to Card/ Document Production. I called they said they would enter a service ticket and get it resent, but the guy couldn't tell me what they were trying tp send a RFE or Green Card. What is everyone elses take on this?

Card/ Document Production

On August 2, 2010, the post office returned your document I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. We will hold it for 180 days from August 2, 2010 to allow you time to contact us. If you do not contact us at 1-800-375-5283 within 180 days, this document will be destroyed and you will need to file a new application or application for replacement with fee.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.
