Hi, All.

Just want to say thank you to everyone, and to say that we've finally got the greencard :)

I guess we're lucky enough to get through with no Interview and the medical report that has to be signed by civil surgeon. We only submitted the vaccination card.

Wishing everyone a happy life in the US. :)

Just want to say thank you to everyone, and to say that we've finally got the greencard :)

Yay besa! I finally got my SSN name change processed which means I can get my driver's license tonight! Can 't wait!

How long it took for you to get the new SSN? I applied for a name change last week but havent received anything, I need that too in order to get my DL.

Arya, I made my third trip to SSA to only be told that I gotta go back tomorrow for the SSN... that sucks...

Jelly, it could take up to two weeks

Be careful out there. They told me there's a "3 strikes" policy with the SSA where if an application is

rejected 3 times, you have to wait "until next year" to reapply.

Dorothy: "You mean if I click my ruby slippers 3 times I can be home in Kansas?"

Today I received a TXT message notification and 3rd e-mail about my I 485:

"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On July 21, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283" and the dot changed to Post Decision Activity, after being on Document Production. Does that mean that they sent me my GC?? :whistle:

How long it took for you to get the new SSN? I applied for a name change last week but havent received anything, I need that too in order to get my DL.

I applied for name change on Friday and they sent in an electronic verification, which they say comes back in a week. I got an email and a call from SSA this morning telling me that my name change has been processed. They don't usually call or email, but I was in contact with the manager and he said he will contact me when it's all done. I didn't receive a letter from them yet, so I went to SSA this morning and asked them for a print out and they gave it to me. WIth that I went to Secretary of State and got a DL, finally. I don't expect my card to come in yet, maybe by the end of the week or next week.

ps. I forgot to say you should go there and check on it, it may be already processed but you just haven't received the letter yet. If it's processed they will give you a print out which should be enough to get a DL

Why did they tell you to come back tomorrow? You should tell them to send in an electronic verification that comes back in a week. It's the second step in green card verification if the first one doesn't work. Do request that, because most of them I think go straight to third step, which is mailing of the application and that takes a month.

March 21, 2009 - I-129F sent to VSC

November 6, 2009 - Interview in Montreal - Approved!

February 15, 2010 - POE Thousand Islands

March 27, 2010 - Wedding!

AOS

April 17, 2010 - I-485, I-765, I-131 sent to Chicago Lockbox

April 26, 2010 - Received NOAs for I-485, I-765, I-131

May 13, 2010 - Transferred to the CSC

May 19, 2010 - Biometrics appointment

June 17th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd & 30th - touches on I-485

June 25th, 2010 - E-mail: EAD approved

June 30th, 2010 - 2nd E-mail for EAD

July 1st, 2010 - Email: RFE being sent for AOS

July 2nd, 2010 - AP received in the mail

July 6th, 2010 - EAD received in the mail

July 8th, 2010 - Received RFE in the mail. They have no record of my medical!

July 12th, 2010 - RFE (new medical) sent back via Express mail

July 21st, 2010 - Welcome Letter (dated July 15th) received by mail and e-mail received stating GC approved

July 23rd, 2010 - GC received in the mail

Yes approved. Not necessarily mailed the GC. Could be just the welcome letter. Either way sometime in the next 2 weeks you should have it...
