In a weeks time, before my I-94 expired, I had been to the SSA three times and the DMV twice. The DMV wanted to help me, but they couldn't verify my name in the system as my SS said my maiden name and my NOA papers said my married name. They even told me to see if the SSA would change my name in the system but not give me a card... but the SSA manager would not do so. SSA will not do anything for me until I have my EAD or Greencard in hand. I dread going there for the 4th time.... but once that's done, the DMV stuff should be a breeze! The appointments in Orlando usually are open for the next week, and when I went without appointment, I waited 45 mins... not too bad. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Great!! Thats the attitude :) Sorry I didn't know you tried with no EAD... DMV Site in Florida stated clearly they will not take NOA as a probe for driver license.

You made a good cause so you will get your benefits :)

Regarding appointment... if you walk-in in Broward or Miami county it can take you hours!! :)

EAD arrived today. It was actually sent on 22 June so three days to get here isn't bad. I'll scan it and the letter that came with it (blanking out important things of course) and upload them to my gallery with the rest of my immigration documents :)

Woot woot!! Now just waiting on the GC. Can't wait till I can FINALLY apply for my DL.. just need to keep studying now :D

Just got word that my EAD is in production and I should receive it within 30 days! Still no word on my interview though. Man, I'm so ready to have this all over with. When I have my EAD, does that mean I can apply for an American driver's licence?
