Biometrics is done! :) We went this morning to the ASC in Alexandria, VA. USCIS website says military don't need an appointment so I took my husband in his uniform as a back up in case they didn't allow walk-ins. It took a little longer than it should have because when they brought up my file on the computer it still had the wrong A number. We then had to go to the supervisors office so he could investigate. Anyway, he told me it had been corrected and the lady doing my biometrics could just overwrite the wrong A number. Yay....I'm glad that's done now :)

Good work; keep close tabs on that bad A number - even if they correct it here it's likely to pop up later.

Congrats!!!

I saw that you posted the same on the other April filers group. I wonder if it is possible to join the two groups.... At the end, we are in a very similar process.

Great news!

I guess we could since bessangel is posting on the other group. I wonder if it is possible to merge both threads, since we are filing on the same office.

They are the same and yet different in important ways.

I assume you're talking about the AOS from student etc April thread.

Basically, when a K1 files AOS, they've already been through an interview process so a lot of K1's get AOS approved without interview. They've already done their medical and in most cases only need a vaccination section of the 693 filled out. They also don't need to send ANY relationship evidence with their documents, the way they complete the documents (i.e. what you write on it is different) and if a K1s AOS is denied they can appeal... the others cannot.

The other ones, they have to file an I-130. There's higher fees, they will more often than not have to have an interview. They will need to complete a FULL medical. They will need to submit relationship evidence with the initial packet (the i-130 needs it). Their RFE's could be about the AOS part, or they could be about the I-130 parts. And as i said above, they usually cannot appeal a denial.

They are the same "more or less" but I believe merging the two threads could cause confusion when people ask questions that the other "group" didn't have to do.. among other reasons.

----

however if you're not talking about that thread and there is in fact another AOS April thread for family visas then yes they should be merged.

Yeah we are talking about that thread. But this confuse me a little since the OP (Bessangel) stated in the (AOS from student etc April thread) that this thread is for everybody adjusting in April, not particular in K1. That's why I'm posting for my update for both threads.

Thank you for the information, I hope that we no longer need an interview for AOS.I came in K1 visa also, and even though my medical (which is done in January 2010) is still valid, we availed the full medical again here in Guam simply to avoid any RFE. So I guess I should be sticking in this thread from now on  since most members posting in here are from K1.

AAahhh this thread is the one you want to be in then. If you have a look up the top for the "thread path" you can see that this thread is in the AOS Case Filing and Progress reports which is a subsection of AOS from Family Based visas. A "family based visa" is a K1, K2, K3 or K4 visa. CR-1 is a family based visa but there is no need to adjust status and therefore they don't need to be in the AOS section.

You do raise a good point though that there isn't a progress section for the AOS from student etc section... I think I'll raise that in the "site discussion" area... :D

Initial Review

The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Just got this email an hour ago. I guess it means they have entered our case in the system in California.. Or it s just a touch?

whatever it is.. feels good that it is moving and not lost
