Don't think I could deal with the daily power brown outs.

The RP is having an energy crisis, its kind of strange because the RP makes more power here then most asain countries ? however we are in a crisis they say and therefor we are having excessive brownouts, in some area's 8+ hours a day everyday, we are currently experiencing about 3+ hours daily it's sad because there is a nuclear energy plant that is 70% complete but the think tank that calls themselves government will not allow access to the funds to complete the project. so again the sufferers will be the people paying the highest energy costs in all of asia all because of mismanagement and greed.

Same here.......We're keeping our eyes on some property out on Bohol.

We are going back to the Phils July 2011 and going to visit Bohol to look at lots and houses. I have tried searching for real estate online but not much there as here in the USA on the internet. My wife has an aunt that lives in Bohol. Good luck to you.

I see you pick-up the dangling phone lines, but you missed the power lines in the 'rat nest.' I'm only pointing out the chaos and lack of uniformity/maintenances that contributes to the overall problems.

In actuallity the state of the electrical grid here is in surprisingly good condition as there are rarely outages due to repair issues the phone lines look like that because unlike in the US and UK the phone company charges you to run lines from the pole to your house and when you discontinue your phone service the line stays there, afterall you paid to put it there now the lineman aren't going to remove it without a fee there are alot of things not "uniform" here but in reality the power grid isn't one of them, it's farther "up the line" then that where the issue's are

I ran a voltage meter when using laptop at fiancees house. There is no way I would run any electrical devices without some type of protection. Incredible amount of power spikes.

It is unstable because they CHOOSE not to buy and allocate power to supply the grid, here if a important event is happening like the Manny Pacquiao fight or election events you can guarantee there will be power it is not the line structure or grid if it were there would be mechanical failure, there is very little of that just lack of reserve power to send to the lines

Simple solution. Have a standby diesel generator. Most puti don't care about watching the tube but can't live without AC and Ice cubes.

Things do not operate like they do there in the UK sjr09, the energy commision that answers to GMA is responsible for accounting for the allocation of energy purchasing and distribution

GMA? GMA Network broadcasting company? I don't have any idea how things are done in the UK, and made no comments about it. I live in Hawaii and last I checked that was in the US.

It's my understanding the PI ERC which is a purely independent regulatory body performing the combined quasi-judicial, quasi-legislative and administrative functions in the electric industry, and handles such things as consumer complaints, applications for COC, RES and WA'si applications for a general change in rate, power supply contracts and so on.
