Green Card and traveling outside the US

The PR/Green Card will allow re-entry to the US, it doesn't really assist (or have a function) in international travel.

If, for example, you're visiting a country that you would have needed a Visa for before getting your PR/Green Card, you'll need one now since you're still a citizen of your home country.

Other than that - you should need only your Passport and PR/Green Card to re-enter the US as a Permanent Resident.

I'm confused :( When you come from chile you need to get a visa, so that means that even though I have my green card I need to get a tourist visa too?

You do not need a visa to enter (come back in) the US, all you need is your passport and PR/Green Card. If you're going to another country that requires citizens of Chile to have a visa (and I have no idea which countries do), then you'll still need to get one. If all you're doing is going to Chile and back to the US, you have nothing to worry about (just the PR/Green Card and passport). :star:

*I am assuming you won't be leaving the US for long periods of time (6-months or more, for example).

ditto only your GC and passport,

if you are travelling to a different country other than your own, yo do have to check if you need a visa to enter this other country.

For Example, I'm from Argentina but I wanted to travel to Nicaragua, I had to check on the Nicaraguan's Consulate if Argentineans need visa to enter Nicaragua, wich we don't.

to enter the US, just my passport and my Gc.
