Can you bring canned foods in checked luggage going to US

Hello, I am in Philippines right now and will be leaving soon, I already have a permanent resident status (2 yr). I'm just wondering if I can bring with me canned goods of corned beef and sisig. There's no canned sisig in US, not even online. I'm going to bring shampoo and conditioner as well, they're milder than the ones I available in US. I have checked TSA website, but can't find info about bringing canned goods in checked luggage. I will be flying Delta all the way. Please share if you have more information. Thank you

Canned meats are not allowed to be brought into the US. Some people say they do it and the Customs never checks, but you never know. According to the Customs & Boarder Patrol, canned meats are banned.

My wife and I just got back fromt he RP. She came back a few days after I did. She brought some salted fish back in canning jars. Customs randomly pulled her out of line for inspection and did not say anything about the jars of salted fish. The jars where glass, and she disclosed them in her customs form. They didn't even mention them during inspection. So I think you would be okay with canned meat, just disclose them in your customs form if your concerned. If they question you about it you can always plead ignorance. On another note I take canned stuff to the RP all the time.

Yep, they will confiscate your corned beef if they catch it. They even snagged my beef jerky once, and it was purchased in USA and I never ate much of it during the trip. But dried and canned meat is not allowed to be brought into US.

my dad friends brought her some canned goods here at usa ..as long as you put in your check in baggage and fold in wisely...just wrapped it and even some tuyo he brought us here too.

Its really sad that a lot of these products on pinoygrocery.com & philamfood.com are so over priced. I have seen these same products in various asian stores where I live and they are at least 4-times less expensive than on both of these sites. Even my wife has stated how over priced these items are and will not order anything from them. Why price-gouge your own people just because they are not in their former homeland and want a taste of home.

it has to do with import fees (say thank you Mr. Clinton) shipping fees, fees to setup and run a merchant website and after all that you still need to make a profit, it's called supply and demand

Yes, I know about the setup fees and maintenance of a website. I used to build them, and I was going to include the import and shipping fees in my statement, but I didn't. I know all that plays an role, but to me it's still overkill on the price. Take for example this JUNK sold in America, but made in china. Cost pennies to make/manufacture and does not last at all. I bought a $400 dollar CP and it died 15 months later. The US loves to bilk people here, citizens or not.
