Nana Prouty - Heroine Counter-Terrorist

I viewed with interest 60 Min. last night: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6341542n

Nana Prouty came here and admittedly entered into a sham marriage.

However, she distinguished herself by putting herself in harm's way

in the fight against terrorism. The government went fishing for

dirt on her only because she was Lebanese and her brother in

law may have had terrorist leanings (with no proven connection to her).

They dredged up her fake marriage (which I believe was already

beyond the statute of limitations for such prosecution) and forced

her to give up her citizenship. The report is biased on her side but

by their silence the government seems not to believe they had

a strong case, even if they intimidated her into admission of things

she didn't do. She remains here but without citizenship because

if forced to return to Lebanon those terrorists who she fought against

would have a price on her head. If the government is convinced of

that, why then did she lose her citizenship?

Filed: Country: Philippines
Timeline

I also watched the 60 Minutes segment - very emotional. She agreed to let the State Dept disregard the statute of limitations on the fraudulent marriage and she pleaded guilty to viewing a file on her CIA computer without permission, even though she didn't. I think she made a mistake by not fighting the charges because even though she's living here, she has no rights, can't get a job or even open a bank account. Very sad.
