AOS finally filed today - 3 months to the day after her POE - 65 pages.

As with the I-129F I made a very detailed cover letter showing everything

(including duplicate copies of ID documents and the 6 photos for the 3 forms that required them).

USPS sent confirmation of my package getting picked up at Chicago lockbox on April 6,

so it may be a few more days to get the NOA1's for AOS, EAD & AP applied for concurrently.

We also sent the form for notification by email.

I was expecting it earlier, but better late than never.

It was mailed on March 29 and received at the lockbox on April 6.

I guess it takes them a week to go through it before going to the

She applied for AOS (green card), EAD and AP, so there were 3 email receipts,

(judging by the receipt numbers) but they sent her 3 copies of each, a

total of 9 emails when 3 would do. It may be overkill but we don't mind.

The National Benefits Center is in Missouri, just outside of Kansas City, and is otherwise known as the Missouri Service Center (MSC). The NVC is in New Hampshire and just does the visa side of things.

Received AOS/EAD biometrics appointment today for May 7, 2010...one more small step for us.

She has a foot operation scheduled for May 4 so I called the podiatrist's office Friday and they sent

a letter to her with the date & location of the surgery so hopefully when she brings that to the ASC

center they will accept a walk-in appearance for biometrics a week or so before May 7.

My wife has a "biometrics" appointment for Friday of next week, May 7,

but will have some minor surgery on her foot May4.

I got the Dr. to send her a note explaining about the recovery from surgery

so she'll be taking that today on a walk-in attempt for early biometrics.

She'll get there around 2 PM (they close at 4)

so hopefully they won't be too busy at that time.

She is sometimes hesitant to take busses she hasn't been on before with me,

but I took her there to see the office over the weekend so she knows her destination and

armed her with Google pics of the key bus stops so she knows where to get

on & get off. The trip is very easy with no bus changes. I would have been

there to drive her but things are very crazy at work and I have to be there.

I know when she was there to guide me everywhere in Thailand I didn't

develop much of a sense of direction. It's only by getting out on your own

that you develop this.

The "Application Support Center" at 246 North Ave., New Rochelle had a staff of about 4

and was a street-level very small operation. My wife went there at around 2 PM on a

Wednesday, which I felt was sufficiently far from Monday (when there might be a flood

of customers as they are closed on the weekend) and also past the morning and noon

rushes because some folks want to be first in line or have the convenience of a lunch-break visit.

There were very few ahead of her and she was taken without any objections.

She liked the staff (the guy who processed her was excited about his upcoming first visit to Thailand!)

and gave them an excellent rating

I don't know anything about the chance of a successful walk-in in Manhattan, but try to avoid

the more crowded days & times. Another poster said she had good luck going Friday afternoon.
