Hi Folks,

My wife has interview in May, I am wondering what is mean by Correspondance on interview letter not recieved. We submitted all the docs, nothing else missing.

By the way, we gonna stay in Montreal for couple days after interview. Is it possible we can ask consulate to pickup the visas in peroson or they have the rules that they only mail the visas?

Welcome to VJ. Would be VERY helpful to know which visa you are applying for, I'm assuming cr-1/Ir-1. as u stated wife. If you sent all the required documents in, you should be good to go. Hopefully u made photocopies, and if ya did, bring them as backup!

99% of the time they mail the visa out in the envelope YOU provide them which YOU bought at the Canada Post office. BUT one can always ask to pick it up that day or next day, some have been able to do that, BUT don't count on it--in other words, ensure you purchase that envelope. But do ask, all they can do is say no! And keep in mind, it can take them a day or two or three to mail the package out! It appears lately people have received the pkg fairly soon after the interview, in the past there have been a few unfortunate souls that took close to 2 weeks! Yep--makes it hard to make travel plans to the USA!!

To help others, would be great if ya filled in ur timeline. Welcome to VJ

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
