Russian police report Q

My fiancee has been trying to get a police report for the interview. However, the report that she was given by the "MVD" (Ministry of Internal Affairs) only has a statement that she didn't have any arrests etc... However, it doesn't say anything about the names she has used (only one) and the places she has lived since her 16th birthday. She asked for that type of letter ("spravka") but they said the only one they give is the one she got. Is that sufficient for the interview???? Thanks!!!

She needs to have a police cert from any place she has live from when whe was 16. So if she moved from city to city or oblast to oblast, she would go to that regional police office and obtain the same thing. Remember they all need to have a translation to go along with.

I'm going to ask a mod to move this to the RUB regional forum where you'll get better answers.

It says it's been checked in the federal database. But it does not have a list of the places she has lived in.

I also read somewhere in here that if the police record is in Russian, no translation is needed...???

Thanks for help.

Translation is needed.

I am pretty sure though, that the report covers all of Russian Federation. So if she only lived in Russia, it's just one report.

Wait for the others to chime in.

As far as your concern about multiple names, if she hasn't used more than one (you indicate that she hasn't) then she doesn't need more than one report. I doubt the MVD will certify that she has never used another name. The point is just that if she has and you are writing it on the application, you need a report for every name she has used.

As far as locations, it's the same thing. Where else has she lived? If she hasn't lived anywhere else, you don't need another report. Again, it's beyond the scope of the report to say that she hasn't lived anywhere else. If you didn't write on the visa application that she has, then you don't need to get a report from anywhere else.

Moved from K-1 forum to RUB Forum even though it is posted correctly in K-1 forum, as OP will get country specific information here that will answer his questions

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I think other people have already covered the different names and different locations (you'll put it in the application somewhere).

As far as the police report, I know that it at the very least covers the region they lived. I can't confirm it covers the entire Russia, but from the wording it seems to suggest it does.

I can't remember the exact words, but it was something to the effect of:

"The federal government has no record of any crimes committed against Russia by the individual".

So if she hasn't lived in a different region (like a state), then you don't need to worry at all.

Translation is NOT needed. They can read Russian at the embassy in Russia.

Also, from this point on, stick to the RUB forum for Russia-specific advice. K-1 forum is full of nice folks, but they're likely to give you specific answers from their embassy and K-1 process, not ours.

Thank you all for your help.

Summary to close the subject:

1) The regular "spravka" will work even though it just says "______ didn't have any arrests etc on the territory of the Russian Federation".

2) The translation is not needed b/c the Moscow embassy has people speaking Russian.
