Hey all,

I'm having a difficult time understanding the verbiage for the Ciudad Juarez Package 3. Will my fiance need my original birth certificate or simply a copy of it? I sent her a copy of my birth certificate with hospital and delivering doctor and also a copy of the ID page on my passport. Will this be good? I'm hesitant on sending my original birth certificate through the mexican postal service.

Thanks!

The packets all say that the original and a copy are required, however in a lot of cases they dont ask for the original (of the petitioner).

Will you be present at the time of the interview? If so, you can take the original and a copy with you. That way you know its safe!

A copy may be sufficient however it all depends on the CO. In our particular case the CO never asked to look at my (the petitioner) original birth certificate.

It's always best to have all the required documents present. Listed with this item in our packet was a statement "If you dont have the petitioners birth certificate, the officer will review the case and give you further guidance at the interview" - that always scares me - leaving anything to chance in the hands of a CO can be a problematic thing.

As far as the passport goes - I copied EVERY page - not just the ID page.

I was present in Vietnam for my fiancee's interview and I hand carried everything (because I was also worried about sending sensitive documents). If you cannot be there maybe some others who went through Juarez can advise on what they did - or what methods of sending documents might be safe.

Best Wishes and Good Luck

I can't speak for fiancee visas, but DON'T SEND IT BY REGULAR MAIL IF YOU DO. Do send it by DHL. I have gotten cards in Mexico sent by regular mail, but at least one of them looked like it had been slit open to see if there was money inside or possibly by customs. DHL is the way to send stuff to Mexico.

Copying all the pages of your passport is a good way for them to see how many times you have visited your fiancee and is the type of evidence they tend to like. That is something she could bring to the interview.

Good luck!
