I-130 copies: certified or not & send/return advice

Hi I will be sending my I 130 shortly and read on the guide that they want copies of both our passport or birth certificates. Do these need to be certified or just standard copies? Colored or black? The only thing I saw that said 'certified copy' was the marriage cert which isn't a problem.

Also, when sending any forms in this process do they get sent back to us or lost in their paperwork. When I applied for my UK visa I fed ex-ed my application to an expediter and she made sure everything got sent back to me. I just want to know if I'm going to have to pay for certified copies I would like to have them back if possible.

Thanks!!

initial submittal - standard photocopies are fine.

NVC Submittal - original documents PLUS a photocopy.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
