Hi, all,

I got my first Request for Evidence notification through email today. I'm sort of a bit surprised as I basically sent them an entire folder full of documentation and was pretty sure I'd covered all the bases, but these things happen.

I know that I've got to wait until the letter comes through to see exactly what it is, but I was wondering whether my trip to Niagara Falls last weekend might have had something to do with it. We popped across the border for an hour (walked across the Rainbow Bridge, walked halfway to the Horseshoe Falls and back again as it was so cold) and came back to the US to a bit of a strange line of questioning. I was asked whether I'd ever been arrested before or ever had my fingerprints taken except for immigration purposes (I hadn't), had to wait until he checked a bunch of things and then been asked for a fingerprint and retina scan. A little odd as I'd never had anything like that before and I've travelled to Canada multiple times, but I put it down to something akin to a random screening and to the fact I had applied for citizenship earlier that month.

Is it possible that something related to this could have been the source of the RFE? Just curious. I guess I'll know soon enough....

Have a great weekend!

Hello friends. My friend, Do not worry about nothing. It is really the fingerfrints appointment. I have passed exactly as you. I received the fingerfrints notice for my naturalization on last Friday. The system online generated the same new for me with one day of the actual written paper. For many people here in the forum of naturalization so far, it appears the same situation. Remember something, in immgration and legal things, what is actually worthy and genuine is the written letters or papers, the online system or your cell phone number can say whatever or appears whatever thing on it, these are not official communications from USCIS and indeed, they are not valid. The physical and printed paper that arrives to your house is the main and official communication from USCIS to you, so please Do not worry about it! Thanks and bye,

Not a requirement to sign up for those e-mails and so-called processing dates that are 99.9% inaccurate, and sure is causing a lot of confusion in this board when someone gets a general e-mail. Sure isn't a fingerprinting appointment letter you get in the mail, or your application back because you forgot to sign it or include required evidence.

After going nuts with the I-751 processing online, we never bothered with the N-400 online processing date, just watched our real mailbox in front of the house. That greatly helped us to maintain our sanity.

Mark-Glad that you had a fun time in Niagara Falls, Canada...:)

Wow, I can't believe that you walked across the bridge in the freezing cold! Glad you made it back ok too.

I've crossed the Rainbow Bridge on several occasions...But never on foot...interesting that you did such.....

Lol...Yet another reason not to use the Rainbow Bridge...(thanks for the warning about the walk...lol...)...

They don't handle "POEs" and "unusual crossings" too well..lol......(see my VJ timeline for more info too)

Lol..Perhaps the next time around, try another bridge (I personally recommend the Peace Bridge instead..)

Nevertheless, don't worry about this affecting your citizenship case, as it probably won't do any harm there.

The only thing is that you might have to tell them about this day trip during your interview process, if they ever ask about your travels that were under 24 hours.

Otherwise, you are good to go, and should have no problems with your oath ceremony...;)

And more likely than not, the RFE is for fingerprints/biometrics (mine was, and I even inquired about it in-person too).

You'll probably get your fingerpritns letter soon, if not you can inquire futher with the USCIS about that.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your journey and citizenship application too.

Thanks a lot for the info, guys. It's a big relief that it's probably the biometric appointment

It is most probably the biometrics appointment confirmation. I just got my "RFE" two days ago, after the email kept us in suspense for a whole week - only to find out its for biometrics. Looks like they have changed the wordings on their auto-emails. They now consider fingerprints as "Additional evidence or information required". Silly, I know.

Good luck.

Hi there;

Am also adding to the list to ask you to have peace with yourself because it's likely your RFE is biometrics, although we may have different cases. Did have same email notification and the letter which arrived in my mailbox was for biometrics.

Good luck!
