Why there are pinays out there who feels so conceited about theirselves once they arrived here in the States?

What about the members who know the secret to getting around the censored words and use 4 letter profanities without penalty? It happens all the time here, and don't see you coming down on them.

I don't moderate the other fora. I only moderate the Philippine forum.

I'll add my two-cents... LoL

I agree with some comments about Filipinas who came here and started to act as "I am better than you because I have this and that", and then started to be snobbish (When you try to smile to her kasi you know she is Filipina too like you even though she is trying to deny).

I guess those kind of Filipinas are just overwhelmed from having "papag" to "water bed". LoL. Then, they flaunt their "richness" with signature clothes, up-to-date gadgets and huge SUV cars. And then, found out who is with her, daddy or grandpa? Sometimes, made me think if the reason they are being snobbish is because "nahihiya sila sa balat nila kasi nag-asawa sila ng matanda pa sa tatay nila."

hahahahahaha,, naka relate tuloy ako sa topic nato,, i experienced this myself,,me and my husband attended the wedding of my neice here in US of A,,, the made of honor of my niece is a filipina too who married a american guy,,,, in the dressing room,,, me and my neice and the made of honor are only there,,, since we are all both filipinas in the room,,,i assume we speak our filipino language but this made of honor really speak english all the time and take note she is trying to pronounce it in american way,,, i talk to her in visaya way and she responded me in english,,i really want to knock her head and said hello we are all filipina here you don't have to speak english duh,,,i am really pissed off,,i believe no matter where we go we should not forget of what we are,,,

I totally agree with all the comments. I've been here in the USfor more than 6 years and I've also encountered those type of pinays who are big time "wannabe". Just because they married an American they think that they are all that.

Here are some of my experiences:

1. They talk as if they grew up here. Immitating the accent even if the grammar is totally off.

2. Most of them are trying hard with the way they dress up. I hate

it when they try to look younger than their age. IF YOU ARE ON YOUR

LATE 30s... Stop acting as if you are 16-18. Gosh, It doesn't look

good I'll tell yah LOL. Nagmumukha lang kayong P*k-P*k :bonk:

3. They love to brag the material things that they have. One

Filipina that I used to work with in the company always brags

all her purses like coach, gucci and louis vuitton. But tell you

what they are ALL fake and she bought those at a Flea Market. It

is so irritating to listen to all the ####### (how expensive are her

purses blah blah)... I wanted to tell her "YOU ARE AS FAKE AS YOUR

PURSE" bruha ka!!!!

Always keep your feet on the ground no matter where you are or no matter how well your life is. Stop pretending that you are somebody else because at the

end of the day mukha ka pa ring katulong na nag papaka trying hard!

I do agree with the post below. I also believe that majority of the Filipinos who are now here in the US are not like what the OP is trying to imply mainly because Filipinos are molded with good values. Incase, you'll encounter hypocrites, just ignore them because hypocrites are everywhere.

You cannot please everybody its simple as that. It's either you deal with these type of people or scram. Let's just mind our own business and don't get carried away with our emotions. There's more important stuff to think about and minding other people's business is a waste of time. I've met some of these what you called hypocrite people but I didn't give a damn, as long as they're not hurting me and my family, I don't really give a $hit. Even back in Philippines, there's people like that so why we have to be so surprised? Tama nga sabi nila baka masabihan lang tayo na "Bakit ikaw ba nagpapalamon sa akin? Anong paki mo? Di lalo kalang ma upset!:P Peace!

scenario:

while the wife is looking for something in the mall the husband saw some filipinas who were talking in our dialect. the hubby smiled at them and passed by and so the wife followed the husband and smiled at them as well.

Filipina: Nurse ka ba?

Wife: Hindi po. Bakit?

Filipina: Asawa mo puti?

Wife: opo.

Filipina: Okay..Sige..Bye..

I am new to where I am working now and there is this guy that looks like a Filipino that I used to smile but changed my mind because he never smiled back and he was the employee of the month last month too. One day while I was in the break room with fellow Filipinos I asked.

Me: Is Ramon Filipino?

Pinay1: Oo bakit?

Me: He never smile, mahiyain ba or hindi talaga namamasin?

Pinay2: Hahaha, na notice mo din pala, hindi lang yan, if you try talking to him in Tagalog, he will never answer you back in Tagalog kahit nahihirapan na.

Me: Ay! Bakit naman sya ganyan?

Pinay1: Baka kongresman sya sa atin.

Me: Hehehehe

Ay naku girl bayaan mo sila wag kang masyadong paapekto sa mga ganyang klaseng tao. If happen one of your friend act like that then don't get to attach to her. I work in a hospital where lots of pinay nurses hindi naman sila snub. Maybe one reason why pinay acted like that is because of her background, the family way of living.

You don't need any kind of enlightenment so long as they aren't a PITA on you and you aren't hurting them, then why care. Don't give a rat's sh*t, not worth feeling an aggravation. Just be happy you're not of them!

I have to agree with binow!!!...here in phoenix there is a good population of filippinas and there was a big group that always gathered ........but some got to much into themselves and started to use the others for person gain so the group split up into basically a group looking to make money for themselves and another group of girls and family who just want to be friends (hang out, go out to eat.....and for the girls 10 hours at the mall!!!) binow and my pam are part of that group of "friends"!!!!....so I do have knowledge of how some of the pinays can get sucked into that way of behaviour and acting that way

what would I do without the love you give me.

I have been to few states for work purposes and sometimes when I met a filipina as well, considering the time she was just here in the states, (say just 2-6 months) they feel like they've just earn the right to be a b**ch, and some thinks their a$*es don't stink.. I mean, there are so many trying hard to blend-in that quick in the American way ( e.g the way they cloth their selves, the way they talk, interpret things). Just because some girls married a foreigner they evolved too quick. I don't blame other people why they would immediately think that these types of gals really just use their husbands as a ticket to the USA. It makes me aggravated everytime I come across with a fellow pinay who acts like this.

Why can't we just put our feet on the ground and stay humble. CAN SOMEBODY ENLIGHTEN ME WHY THIS HAPPENS???

hi,

IMO , To each its own lang yan...if you dont like someone because of some reasons youve stated above then dont befriend her and just be the person that you want to be.

There are some Filipina who unconsciously adopt american way of talking because of their environment and there are just some Filipina who loves dressing and buying branded stuffs.. Basta ba hindi sila nangungutang sa kin and hindi nila ginugulo buhay ko..Im good with them :) Ganto naman dito di ba, walang pakialamanan..

I wanted to blend with the Mexicans after I got here. I don't know why. I love the Mexican humor, the food and the way they take pride in their culture. Sounds like Pinoys to me. But, according to my American husband, who is as very keen observer, Pinays in America have the tendency to confuse their abilities with their position. Filipino skills do not equal American skills despite what they were doing in the Philippines.

I think he may be right. I had to re-learn everything I thought I knew in the Philippines when I came here. They are so hi-tech here.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

hello Ladies,

In my opinion, other Filipinas who are acting "AMERICAN WANNA BE" (ika nga), think that they are better than other Filipinas.

However, one time, we had vacation in LA and Las Vegas, 2 Pinays at 2 Pinoys po. We had tour in LA and every FILIPINo that we will pass by binabati namin, sadly, hindi po sila babati.

I'm not sure if all of my opinion make sense to this thread, pero ang pinakamaganda dyan, hayaan nalang sila at isipin natin kung ano talaga tayo at kung ano yung kultura na nakasanayan at ipinagmamalaki natin.

A GOOD ADVICE TO ALL THE FILIPINAS WHO ACT LIKE THIS!!!

You are bringing the Phillipines to the United States, and it is a far better thing to do than to try to hide or forget who you are. Be strong and bring your own desires to share something only you can do. Don't try to be something you hope people will like, but be something they have missed and didn't know.

In otherwords,be brave and strong. Carry your love close to your heart and never forget your heritage and where you came from.
