I-693 to be submitted to Chicago Lockbox?

I was ready to stick the I-693 envelope in with my I-485 form & accompanying documents.

However, upon re-reading the instructions for both, it's not 100% clear:

I-693 INSTRUCTIONS =>

Step 5 - Submit Form I-693 in the sealed envelope to USCIS according to the instructions on Form I-485,

USCIS will return the form to you and/or request another form I-693 if it is not in an envelope of if

the envelope has been opened or altered.

I-485 instructions =>

7. B. - If you are filing your Form I-485 with a local USCIS office, include your medical examination

report with the application.

8. If you are a K-1/K2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the

nonimmigrant visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report.

You may include the vaccination supplement with your form I-485.

My local office is NYC but the AOS instructions say to submit the I-485 to the Chicago lockbox,

which is what I plan to do. If the I-485 goes to Chicago, do we keep the I-693 awaiting the

interview, or pack it along with the AOS application? I would hate to have it lost in the mail,

having gone through a not very pleasant experience in getting it.

It would be clearer if the I-485 instructions spelled out the I-693 by name instead of referring to it indirectly!

To me there is the possibility of a contradiction between instruction #7. B and #8.

What has been your real AOS experience, for those who have gone through this gauntlet?

Since the instructions for the I-693 refer the reader to the I-485, wouldn't you think they

would explicitly say something about the I-693 in the I-485 instructions?

Hello there and congrats with your VJ process! I have just filed for AOS as well- my friend, who is an Immigration Attorney (lucky for me!) says the instructions are ####### and are always getting modified.. but the government adjusts accordingly- meaning they WILL (usually) send whatever paperwork that needs to go to another office- To make a long story short, Just send all your documents: I-485, I-693, (I-131, I-765 both optional), G-325A, I-864 to the Chicago Lockbox address via USPS certified Priority mail and you should be JUST FINE! Good Luck with everything!

Thanks a bunch, hon.

It'll be in the mail on Monday.
