The Government is only after control and that is all. They don't care one bit if a citizen dies either. They do not care how much the costs are to get what they want. It is after all our money they are spending. We have just given the Feds one of the main levers to control each and every citizen. They now hold the power of life and death over each of us. To be more honest it will be a bureaucrat that will have that power.

Try and sue the government when they deny your claims or for wrongfully saying that what procedure that both your medical provider and you decide is needed to save a life is not what the Feds in far off D.C. say you need.

no doubt youll get a tin foil reply to this.

If you want my honest opinion then I will say that the Republicans are just grandstanding as usual. They will fall in line after the midterms and make adjustments and try to usurp the legislation. The timeline will stand but more pork will be added and more things added to the timeline. They will try to keep the heat on Obama to make him look like even more of a dote than he is and so position themselves and whoever they are running against him next time.

Same old stuff as usual. History repeats itself.

have you any hope at all that the scotus or these lawsuits brought by the states will kill this thing, or at least part of it, before the midterms? i have some, but admittedly very small. i guess to clarify what i was asking of you is if you think that as these triggers pass will the lives of our fellow citizens continue to have a sunny outlook, or do you believe as i do that the longer we get into this timeline the worse off our lives will be as it relates to health care? i care not for political posturing, or parties in general but only in how their malfunction affects us.

Do you also still have hope for being able to grow Papayas and Oranges in Minnesota? That's much more likely to happen than the Scotus reversing any of the health care reform legislation. Sorry to break it you like this but there's no use in hanging on to hopes of the impossible materializing.

I always have hope but not for our government as both parties are pretty much the same. We vote at a two party pace here. They will never undo any legislation once it is in place but they will over burden it till it is unwieldy as historically they always have. SCOTUS has already allowed the government to tax us for any and all socialist programs that the Feds throw at us so why would they stop this or even parts of it? You can say but this time they are mandating each and everyone to get health care but they were allowed to tax us for life and get medicare when we get old if we made it that long so it is no stretch to say this is the same.

Our fellow citizens take whatever the politicians want us too because as I said before we are a two party state here and both parties will keep this going forever. There is too much power to give up here. They love nothing more than control and this is the ultimate control of the populace. The people can't seem to understand that there are other parties and ideas then these two jokes of political parties. The people will become resigned to their fate and do nothing as usual.

Expect the Reps to bash the Dems with this though and get the midterm boost they always have historically. Then they will make grandstanding ploys to show Obama is the dote he is. I doubt they have anyone with the charisma to unseat him so Obama will be a long time lame duck. Then the Reps will get control of all reigns again like they did before by promising less and all that and then do the opposite like last time and give us more Fed stuff and big deficits.

Of course the Reps will then when they get all the reigns say they will keep some of the GOOD stuff and make changes to the rest to make us feel good and they will even make a few cosmetic changes but over all it will be nothing. Then the yearly reform will happen and the health care will be expanded yearly and more money thrown in to fix or add whatever as usual as all Fed programs do. We will start seeing sin taxes on everything. We will become less competitive world wide as our costs have now equaled the other Socialized countries.

About this time you will see total Fed takeover of health care as the costs spiral and of course the people will believe the Feds will stop the bleeding by doing this. (It won't)

This is all historical of course and always has happened. We never learn from history so due to repeat it. On the bright side though. I am getting to the age that the real hurting will be after I am gone. Our kids and their progeny will be cursing us for the mess we left them. I plan on dying with a smile on my face.

My knee-jerk to this is that I should have known better than to ask an old guy ;) but seriously with sentiments such as these becoming more and more common I get pushed further and further into the "imminant dollor collapse" crowd as much as I would love to stand against such a dreadful reality. But if our country does indeed follow the course you are suggesting I see no other destination. What happens after that is anyones guess but I would like to think that after the dust has settled we would eventually find our way back to something more like what this country was at its inception, and I could be wrong on that.

The best years of my life were between the end of high school and age 24, which for me were during the Clinton lame duck years. At age 34 now I am seriously concerned that I have already risen as high as my government will ever allow. I depend on large corporations, and their huge IT departments for my livelyhood. I reason that the more the pres and congress do battle with each other, the less they can ram their agenda down our throats, and the less that they can destroy the money making vehicles of this country. I plan to, in every future election cycle, vote for an outcome of a lame-duck pres every single time. Does this strategy have its flaws like any other? sure. Does it depend on a lot of brain-dead people suddenly being awakened and care about "what the government is doing for them on their behalf"? sure do I have faith in that happening? not a chance in heck, although people seem to be quite awake this time around.

I welcome the response of all who have one
