CR-1 Montreal Visa wait

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback from people who have had their CR-1 interview in Montreal. I'm curious to know if I have my interview on THURSDAY, on what day do you think I will get the Visa? It will be mailed to an address within Ontario ( a 4 hour drive from MTL to be exact).

AND.... Anyone who had medical done in Toronto or Montreal....do you really have to wait 2 days to get results, or has anyone been able to get it sooner?

2/14/13 checks cashed $420 x 2

4/3/13 RFE more divorce info requested and marriage certificate(which I had already sent)

4/9/13 mailed additional info

4/19/13 I130 approved

5/10/13 NVC received

5/16/13 Called NVC and got Case #s and Invoice ID #s

5/17/13 USCIS website states: Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again.

5/24/13 Paid AOS ($88.00) fee online

5/30/13 Emailed I-864 package for both kids

6/3/13 paid IV bill $230 x 2 kids

6/5/13 IV bill shows paid, DS260 available

6/14/13 CHILDREN'S PASSPORTS ARRIVED!!!!

6/14/13 filed online DS-260 for both kids

6/16/13 emailed Supporting docs for DS-260 for both kids

7/9/13 CHECKLIST for both kids...sad.png

7/9/13 checklist response sent (birth certs and passport Bio Page <again>)

8/2/13 CHECKLIST both kids

8/3/13 checklist response sent (I-864 AGAIN and paystubs - sent last 6 paystubs)

8/28/13 ***** INTERVIEW SCHEDULED***** for 10/9/13

9/11/13 Medicals completed in Toronto @ Dr. Seiden's office

10/9/13 INTERVIEW APPROVED

Hello everyone,

I interviewed on a Tuesday and had my visa Friday by noon. ( I was in the NIagara region.)

I had my medical done in Toronto on a Monday, had the results sent via courier and received them in two days.

it all really depends when they mail it out! In a perfect world they would send it out for delivery the same day of the interview, but thats not usually the case. And then many time sit seems they have mailed it BUT the tracking # doesnt work,lol good old Canada post!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes Good Old Canada Post. Too bad Canada didn't adopt "mail on saturday" like the USA has. Then the wait would be considerably less. Too bad the consulate doesn't give people their visa the day of the interview....that would be living in a perfect world. LOL.

They used to. Then they went to next day, and now! Of course you can always ask, and yes some have managed to get it the same day. All they can do is say no!! Having a good "reason" may help,lol

Actually, most (if not all) of the recent approvals have received it in five or six days maximum. I interviewed on a Friday and got mine on the subsequent Tuesday...and I lived in Greater Vancouver. They clearly sent it out on the same day of my interview. I think it's reasonable to be optimistic that you'll get it by April 6th or 7th.

Married: 07-03-09

NVC received: 10-14-09

Opted In to Electronic Processing: 10-19-09

Case complete @ NVC: 11-13-09

Interview assigned: 01-22-10 (70 days between case complete and interview assignment)

Interview @ Montreal: 03-05-10 -- APPROVED!

POE @ Blaine (Pacific Highway): 03-10-10

3000 mile drive from Vancouver to DC: 03-10-10 to 3-12-10

Green card received: 04-02-10
