I received packet 3 and have requested all the evidence needed.

I got the information needed from Sweden within 3 days but the Irish police report hasn't arrived yet (2 weeks).

Now I'm wondering if anyone else has requested a Certificate of Character from the Irish Gardai and how long it took.

I called the Gardai station and was told that it takes roughly 2 months! That's not a very nice delay :(

Thanks!

Are you sure you asked for the right thing?

There is a character cert as needed for working with kids, the mentally disabled etc; a couple of my friends needed to get it for work or volunteering, and it took 40-60 days. Then there is the police cert for visas (a yellow form), which usually only takes a couple of weeks.

Hi Penguin and thanks for your reply.

I followed the instructions on this site when requesting the report (Certificate of Character): http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/justice/law_enforcement/police_certificate_of_character

It states 3 weeks for waiting which seems to be valid with your experience.

The 2 months answer was the reply from the clerk (on phone) when I called the Gardai station. I think I said it was for a US Visa but maybe she was thinking about the "working with kids" one you're referring to.

Again, thanks a lot!

I'll just wait another week or so before I'll try to push (if possible).
